[WIPz] Invasion From Azeroth

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:05 am

Been a while since last screenshots, so I'll post some more than usually to make up for that :)

These are all race-specific armor/weapon sets you get as a Warrior of that race (and in the case of Night Elves, also gender). A few other Races I didn't make screenshots of here now also get race-specific sets, though most others will get a generic one.

I'm sorry, but is there a way to play this mod without installing OBSE? It's just that I don't really like fiddling around with extra programs too much, even though it may be easier - I just find it more comforting to sort the mod into the individual slots myself, etc...so yeah :P if there's a No-OBSE version coming out, I'll look out for it

What's so hard about installing OBSE? Just unpack it and drop the files in your Oblivion folder. Than launch the game through the OBSE launcher. So unless you use the Direct2drive version or an illegal version there's really no good argument not to use OBSE.

On topic: I've never played WOW, but there's some very interresting and well thought out stuff here! :foodndrink:

If I'd have to make a non-OBSE version, I'd have to check every single script in my mod (of which there are many hundreds) and remove every single one of them which uses an OBSE function because it won't work without OBSE anyway and would probably cause crashes etc. That would be tons of hours of extra work, and it would break like 60% of the mod's features or maybe more. That's not really something I intend to do, because there's no real reason not to use OBSE (stable versions that is, if you have problems with beta versions I could understand)

That's nice to hear! My aim with this mod is not only to provide a mod for players who already know the Warcraft universe or play/have played any warcraft games. My aim is to integrate the worlds of Warcraft and Oblivion in a way inspired by both games, and explain as much as possible of the lore required to understand things mainly through dialogue :D So I hope I'll succeed at this :)

As i mentioned earlier i'm testing this mod. And even if i'm a wow player also i can say that you dont need to be a wow player to use this mod. New classes, races and more fun spells to use in oblivion along with new areas. The difference is that a wow player have seen some of it before and might apreciate it more. But this mod is definitivelly enjoyable for everyone.

About OBSE. At first i didnt like that either. Didnt feel right to start the game from some other place than the launcher. But then i noticed i still mostly click play on launcher and only sometimes go into data files to enable/disable mods and change load order. So nowdays i have two shortcuts for oblivion. One for Oblivion mod manager when i need to manage my mods or install OMOD mods. Else i just click the shortcut for OBSE that starts the game. Installing OBSE is even easier than most other mods :P

But i do gota say. Once you've tried this mod you dont want to use any of the vanilla races or classes anymore. IfA races look very good, and the class abilitys you get by completing the introduction quest are amazing. Ads a whole different level of gameplay.

Links to the trailer are in the previous post and the first post. You could also just search youtube for ''Invasion from Azeroth'' and click the first link :D

Since school started again new screenshots are a bit less regular than they were when I started the thread, and time spent on modding is less too. This does not mean the project will be abondoned or anything like that however, since it's almost completely done already. I'm just reordering the folder structures and giving things the final touch, but it's incredibly boring work and I have less time than I had during holidays.

I'm expecting to be able to release a beta within max 2 months though, hopefully earlier.

Now apart from this reason, there's one extra reason that will probably make the time till release a bit longer: the v1.0 non-beta version of OBME. Thanks to this awesome tool I've started making some new spell effects, which I will probably release as a modder's resource first and then make this mod dependant on. Here's a few screenshots of what I made so far with it:

http://img826.imageshack.us/f/screenshot108g.jpg/ a http://img210.imageshack.us/f/screenshot110g.jpg/ spell.

http://img718.imageshack.us/f/screenshot111m.jpg/

http://img204.imageshack.us/f/screenshot112u.jpg/

http://img823.imageshack.us/f/screenshot113l.jpg/

http://img704.imageshack.us/f/screenshot114r.jpg/

http://img827.imageshack.us/f/screenshot116g.jpg/

The new looks of these spells will greatly help in making the feeling of each class different by having different color themes in their spells and are in my opinion definitely worth it to push release date back a bit.

Its an Awesome MOD if I may say so. Nice to know that a complete MOD package is coming soon. With the new spell effects and graphics its looking more realistic compared to WoW although its still Oblivion.
With having a good experience with this MOD, I'm looking foward to new changes etc. Hope to see more of this soon enough. Keep up the good work.

hey all, time for a little update.

I've just uploaded a huge, new version for my 2 beta testers. I'll give it about 2 weeks time, and if no game-breaking bugs occur I should be able to get a first beta version for everyone up

at the moment I'm pretty busy with school... Still, the work I've left to do ain't a lot, just a bit boring. Think I should have time for it in the christmas holidays, which start at 20th december I think. I should be able to get a release then I think

I still didn't finish the last few thingies (mainly some items got wrong icons), been busier with school than I expected at first, and also didn't have any motivation really.. to busy playing Cataclysm (wow's expansion) and too busy just following news on Skyrim instead of still following oblivion

Suppose I might just release what I have when I have the time to set an upload for a few hours, since there's nothing really gamebreaking that needs fixing anyway.

I know I for one would love it.... I've loved this idea from the outset.... Then again, my Priest currently makes her home in theramore since she spends most of the day sitting in LFG/LFD for heroics, might as well be somewhere she likes.

it's still pretty much the same as what I said earlier: I would like to upload what I have when I have time. Unfortunately, the upload takes quite some hours, and uploading causes a huge amount of lag. I would be willing to sacrifice myself for that, but my brother and father are both busy on their PCs quite a lot too, so there aren't many spare moments available where causing lag is fine :P I guess I could ask my beta tester if he thinks he has time for an upload some time. Don't think he has the very newest version, but his works fine too. Then I can upload the version that's really the newest some time later.
