Argonian Enmity

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:14 am

Ok so I read somewhere that the argonians invaded morrowind and have conquered it, so does this mean that in Skyrim when you encounter Dunmer they will be all "lets kill the lizard people" and vice versa? See what im saying? I mean will there be people of those races that won't attack each other on sight?

Probably not, the provinces have been warring since the beginning. Besides, it's been at least 150 years since Morrowind fell to the Argonians.

I love the idea of dunmer hating each other and vice versa. I'm personally on the argonians side. But certainly I think you can bet on racial tension between the two

I hope that racial tension becomes a factor in Skyrim, as it is quite a time with high tension so any little thing could cause conflict so it would be nice to see this more dis-trust among races, almost segregation in some areas, especially with the Dark Elves and Argonians, with them once being slaves to being masters of their country I can't see it going down to well, perhaps adds a bit more meaning to race choosing at the beginning of the game.

I don't want to seem like jerk but these one sentence threads are getting quite tiresome. Use search bar next time please.

On Topic: They will always have their animosities towards eachother. Beast races and Dunmer don't get along. They never have. Last era it was slavery, this era it's war.

They'll have had a couple centuries to get over it though. I don't know what has been revealed about Skyrim yet, but for all we know, the Argonians could have mellowed out or the Dunmers may reclaimed their homeland.

Is my timeline off? I think Skyrim will take place about 200 years after the Argonians invaded...

As far as I know, the most proud and traditional Dunmer hated everything that wasn't of their own culture, and chances are most of them died on Vvardenfell. There will be racism for sure, but now that the Argonians have the upper hand maybe the dark elves won't be so quick to try and start fights. I'm sure there are some sore feelings, but rarely do the conquered stand up and spit in the face of their conquerors (that takes guts).

I would like to see perhaps bar fights between a Dark Elf(Presumably Drunk?) and a Argonian, that would just make my day.lol

I'd hope the Dunmer would behave in the exact opposite way. The whole reason the Ministry of Truth fell was because the Dunmer people forgot love, the Argonians took over Morrowind as payback for being slaves for centuries to the Dunmer. If anything, they're even now, as it was their own fault. I'd suspect, though, that the Dunmer are angry, and are just as racist and bitter as ever.

The Dunmer refugees will hopefully have learned love again, seeing as the Nords set a good example by forgiving old wounds to aid them.
The largesse of the Nords towards their ancient enemies is one of my favorite ideas coming out of Red Year.

EDIT: Bah, ninja'd.

I'm mostly thinking that there could be racial tensions between nords and imperials because of the civil war. On this one I'd be on the imperial side since I've played an imperial in Oblivion and it's a race that I like very much.
