Which Fallout cameo would you love to discover in Skyrim?

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 11:11 am

@ you people who want Fallout cameos,

Even after I've mentioned it twice, you are not interested in acknowledging Pip Boy as an option? Surely he is the epitome of the Fallout universe...

Having a little blond boy called Pip running around one of the cities who may say strange things when talked to is infinitely preferable to Nuka Cola turning up anywhere, or some massive 101 Vault door!

True, but finding a bottle cap that says nuka cola on it wouldnt be as big as a vault door or something

And it would double up as a dikeens reference!

Think of all the forum arguments it would spawn! "It's a reference to Great Expectations!" . . . "No! It's a reference to Fallout! . . ."

There would probably even be . . . a poll . . . :)

Wow you guys are so freaking defensive... Bethesda has been working on Fallout for a few years, and suddenly you're like a scorned lover...

A game is a game guys. The Bethesda guys had a lot of good times (as did many others) in Fallout, and if they want to put a fallout Easter Egg in Skyrim... they don't need your guys' permission. This whole "immersion" debate has NEVER stopped them from putting loony Easter Egg stuff in their games. I don't care how many times you guys have read lists of easter eggs... I've seen some loony, out of context stuff in Bethesda games, and I like it.

In fact... you probably won't even see an easter egg on your first... or second playthroughs of Skyrim. If there are any easter eggs... they'll be light jokes from the Bethesda devs... we should take them as such and be glad to play such detail-filled games.

So let's all chill.

Its a forum....people are stating their opinions there are people who say they don't mind, and people who say they rather not...simple as that, no conspiracies here.

That's true Dani. I guess that distinction could be made clearer if he wore blue and gave a thumbs up! lol

I think Pip would be a fun reference, with or without the blue clothing. :)

The nord barbarian actually fits! My sister wouldn't understand where that is from so I don't see the problem with that :)

Personaly I think no cameo would be nice. Although I must admit. Meeting/hearing about a Nord named Grognak the Barbarian would be pretty awesome.

A Nuka-Cola Bottle in a chest buried deep within a virtually impossible to find cave would be very cool. =D

Have a cave that looks like a Vault and have it numbered "43"
It should be filled with 20 dead men and 10 dead woman, and a Giant Panther like creature in it.

Or have one that is number 77 and have a dead man with a bunch of dolls lying on the ground.

EDIT: Or have a few guys named Gary!

Another edit:
did Fo3 even have any Oblivion references? I can't recall any at the moment.

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3_cultural_references#The_Elder_Scrolls_Games Notice how subtle it is, to where it does not combine the two games to where they cannot be distinguished, and does not break immersion. It is only found if you look for it does not throw it in your face.
They also had the same thing in New Vegas.

Most certainly a book of Grognak the Barbarian or an encounter with him. That would be sweet

The Grognak one is the only one that would at least make sense in Skyrim.

Grognak (maybe an orc would fit the name better) would be good fun, but nothing tangible like a hidden vault or anything like that.

Also Pip would be fun. Maybe have him living in a cave somewhere, going on about how he needs to move a boulder to cover the entrance so he can survive the imminent apocalypse :cryvaultboy:

Ok, Uncle Leo was in Fallout3 AND The Shivering Isles. Although one was a Super Mutant and the other a friendly zombie character... so yes, something from Fallout would be nice.. especially Grognak. I, myself would like to find some .308 shell casings on the ground somewhere even if I couldn't add them to my inventory. Or M'aiq couldn't mention something about a wasteland or something.

I'm going to re-convey what I said before.

As a Fallout fan/non-TES(But am a fan of Todd Howard's philosophy) fan personally I don't want any references whatsoever in either franchise.

But as the developer is the same a nod is inevitable and denying them such just because we're the hardcoe fanbase is inconsiderate and being blind.(And no I don't mean just because Bethesda owns Fallout now they can do whatev- Ha. But they do own it now. Like it or not, though I prefer FO in their hands rather than Bioware or Obsidian. But no references needed is what I'm getting at)

If there's a a reference it should be small(as in only 1) and entertaining without being relate to anything. I'd probably go with Grognak the barbarian really. But if they do make a reference it'll probably be a different thing and more clever.

Of coarse The Elder Scrolls series should be flattered if it gets a Fallout reference.

The first Fallout is considered the most prestigious epitome of western/American developed RPGs by an overall margin. Elder Scrolls doesn't hold any such merit or prestige, not even Morrowind.

Even many of Elder Scroll's mechanics are borrowed from Wasteland, the game the Fallout series is considered the successor to.

Just putting it to perspective.

At the risk of sounding like a grumpy old intolerant hater... "keep your fallout out of my TES :swear: "

I feel that way about almost the poll options, though I must say meeting a Grognak would be interesting - moreso if he were almost nvde as depicted in FO3 (and thus the Morrowind tradition of the nekkid nord could be combined with a fallout reference, giving birth to an unholy Bethesda baby)

I wouldn't mind seeing a skeleton with a diary nearby telling of a story about the imminent apocalypse and made his own little "vault" in this cave to survive it, of-course the cave would turn out to be a trolls cave and well the fact he is a skeleton tells all.
