Lightweight enemy leveled list overhaul?

Post » Tue Mar 15, 2011 12:07 am

I have tried all of the huge overhauls: TIE, OOO, MMM, and Oblivion WarCry, and I didn't enjoy them as I feel they just alter the game too much.

I basically just want an "as-close-to-vanilla-as-possible" setup, so besides the essential unofficial patches and patch supplements, all I'm after is basically mods that fix the "bandits with glass armour" problem and the "no new content after player has reached level X" problem.

I currently have the following:

NPC Static Level http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4905
G's Loot Mod http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3321

These mods are rather old, so the reason I created this thread was because I want to know if there are any newer and better alternatives.

Basically, my goal is simple: I'm looking for lightweight mods that fix the scaling issues that vanilla had. Please don't point me to the big ovehauls; as I've said, I've already tried them all.

Oops, forgot to mention Francesco's. Yes, I also tried that, even that's altering too much, IMO...

EDIT: Also, Fransesco's too configurable for me, I get a headache from all fo the optional stuff. o_O

In what way? Seems to do just what you want and not anything else.

You could try Dynamic Place Centric Scaling, I havnt yet but I had it bookmarked to try later. Personally I like the Fallout 3 system.

Regarding Frans: As I've said, it's just too customizable. Going through the installer (which in the first place is an EXE, something I don't really like) and seeing the tons of options gives me a headache. All I wanted was for it to just alter the enemy leveled list, maybe make the game a little "place centric" like what OOO seems to be doing; but that's about it. But it's doing so much more, and I just get put off by the huge amount of options. I really really want to love it, but I just can't.

Thanks for the suggestions. Went through the readme for Dynamic Place Centric Scaling, seems to have compatibility issues. Yeah, I know I'm very picky. I want something simple. :P

John's Leveled List Overhaul looks good, on the items side of things. Gonna try it now! I hope it doesn't add lore-unfriendly stuff...

Well there is http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165418-tie-tamriel-immersion-experience/ which has no custom resources, but I do think it greatly affects the game with game play tweaks for a much harder game

If you do want unleveled encounters but not the game play tweaks then maybe http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7902, which has a few plugins to remove leveled encounters and loot.

http://www.4shared.com/file/gQaLp9Ho/OblivionWarCry109.html is another overhaul with very few options, but does have custom resources.

Well, you know what they say.... if you want something done right, you'll have to do it yourself :P

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to learn how leveled lists and such work and come up with your own take on what a lightweight overhaul is.

Well I'm a fulltime sound engineer and also actively touring (locally) with my band, I really wish I had the time to learn how to mod or use the CS, but just getting enough time to sit down and play this game is already hard enough...

I'm willing to learn how to use the CS, but I'm afraid I don't know if I'm capable of doing any complex stuff. About the only experience I've ever had with the CS is during that one time, a looooong time ago when I was using CM Partners, and all I did was create my own partner, edit his face and starting equipment and dropped him into the IC Merchant's Inn... =P

I guess I'll start by learning by editing WarCry. I remember there being some lore-unfriendly stuff in there (pretty sure I saw some monsters from Diablo! :o), so all I have to do is edit the leveled lists to remove the lore-unfriendly stuff right?

G's Loot Mod might not be the newest mod around, but it still works. I use it myself, and enjoy it. 'New' is not synonymous with 'better.' ;)

Concerning Warcry: the whole purpose of that mod is to inject Blizzard's Diablo universe into Oblivion. It is a great mod but, by definition, it's lore-unfriendly. If you want to keep your game as lore-friendly as possible you'd be better off looking at a different mod.
