New FCOM game not starting

I set up a new FCOM game, being careful to follow directions here and at the official FCOM site. I also enabled mods gradually, according to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119325-50steps-to-stable-fcom/ instructions.

Despite these precautions, once I build a new bash patch and enable it, the game won't load. It's permanently stuck at the loading screen, with the progress bar mostly empty.

I use all of the latest versions of OBSE, OSR, etc.

I would also advise you, to read http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165282-relz-martsmonstermod37b3-public-release-3-relz/ thread.

Also use TheNiceOnce's MMM and FCOM omod installers. You just have to grab a few packages (named in the thread in this forum regading those installers),
and put the together as OMOD with OBMM.
And start slowly, mod by mod.
First do an OOO installation. Test it.
Adding MMM with the omod is really easy, Warcry is just two files, the v.1.09 esp and the bsa file.
FCOM is also possible as omod with the OMOD installer.
And be careful with the bashed patch, not every mod should be checked, where possible.
Sometimes the game wont load anymore. (for me as example, I had to uncheck the actors magic merge, and in a second installation the death items)

I have the exact same problem. My workaround was to NOT import Actor Spells into the bashed patch (uncheck it). I have eliminated all the other import options as the problem to this last one (svcked as it takes 12 minutes to rebuild patch). Then it would work. I now have to figure out which mod importing the actor spells is causing the problem.

Main suspect is the latest UOP and USIP. WIll test tonight.
For a quick test, deactivate the bashed patch and start game. I bet it loads.

Also use TheNiceOnce's MMM and FCOM omod installers. You just have to grab a few packages (named in the thread in this forum regading those installers),
and put the together as OMOD with OBMM.
And start slowly, mod by mod.
First do an OOO installation. Test it.
Adding MMM with the omod is really easy, Warcry is just two files, the v.1.09 esp and the bsa file.
FCOM is also possible as omod with the OMOD installer.


I already read MMM's and FCOM's official threads while building up the mods. I used both of TheNiceOnce's MMM and FCOM omod installers. I also started out slowly, enabling mods little by little, as described in the previously mentioned post by Blade of Mercy. The freeze on startup only started after I built my bashed patch and enabled it for the first time.

And be careful with the bashed patch, not every mod should be checked, where possible.
Sometimes the game wont load anymore. (for me as example, I had to uncheck the actors magic merge, and in a second installation the death items)


I had considered this, but wouldn't disabling certain entire sections of the bashed patch not import certain necessary elements for FCOM to work properly? From what I gather, you needed to disable the "Import Actors: Spells" or the "Import Actors: Death Items," right? I would appreciate some additional thoughts on this, if anyone is willing.

It's a weird issue that has been reported a couple of times. Should be connected to another factor as it works for most, but still a mystery what that might be. Don't think you'll notice anything but guess some NPCs might not use their intended spells. Shouldn't be a major concern but would of course be nice if the issue could be tracked down.

I'm no expert but I find it hard to understand how it can happen in the first place. Here's a thread where it seemed to be connected to Screen Effects and its place in the load order: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1154611-screeneffectsobgev2-fcom-bash-hang-on-startup/. But since then there have been a couple of reports on the same thing happening w/o Screen Effects.

You could try cutting down to a core FCOM install and go from there, adding a couple of mods at a time - but that might take a while.
