actualy make stealth decent

I was about to talk about the alert thing, it sounds similar to the sneak system from FO3, which is a good thing IMO. In OB I never really liked stealth but in FO3 it was one of my favorite things.

Having more powerful bows will help too and since mysticism is gone, I'm hoping detect life is merged into illusion, making it the ultimate stealth magic school.

Yeah, good point on detect life spell,it could be merged with illusion. In essence, mysticism hasn't gone, just the name, the spells are still there. Just spread around how they've deemed fit.
But what we know about stealth so far has pleased me,and there is shouts connected to stealth too,it all bodes well so far. :). I like how it's stated that depending on your sneak skill,it effects the chances of you having more time to slip into the shadows, while enemies are alert. :)...and we can't forget that stealth attack in the trailer...Awesome.

I just wanted to pipe in and say that sneaking in FO3, while simple, was very enjoyable for me. Detect Life spell could take place of the enemy indicator. It really heightened the suspense in FO3, knowing that an enemy was about, but not knowing what it was and allowed effective sneaking without having to move like molasses all the time (which is what spoiled sneaking in previous TES titles for me) .
Now, just throw Brink-like climbing or a grappling hook in and it would be heaven. Yes, all relatively simple and abstracted, but so much fun...

Perhaps some way to jump over seamlessly fences and stuff when sprinting and jump over low heighted things (in other words you run at a fence, leap, you automatically jump it) or if they really want to they may be able to do something like assassains creed (which i absolutely loved but got annoyed at the short lifespan for it). Stealth should be improved in that, surely you aren't the ONLY person who knows detect life i snuck behind someone who had just sold me a detect life spell and when he partially realised i was there he didn't cast detect life or anything just said " i beter cut down on the ale starting to see things i am"

I'm not getting my hopes too high, but this would be
apopletic.

I never liked stealth in fallout 3 the text and the fact i am carrying a minigun kinda ruined it for me

Text? Well, power armor and a mini-gun weren't conducive to stealth in FO3, no ;). But with a light armor and scoped magnum/sniper rifle? Bad-ass. I never enjoyed stealth in a game that wasn't specifically focused on stealth so much. The only thing that I really missed was climbing.

I hope that in Skyrim the enemies move less abruptly, though, so that it would be possible to sneak up on them with a dagger before completely maxing stealth and getting a whole set of Chameleon-enchanted togs.

I really hope light sources are dynamic - that they can be extinguished and relit, and moreover that shadows actually play a role in your visibility (and not just line of sight).

That said, multi-layered AI is the core of stealth (see my sig), and from what we've heard Skyrim is making improvements in that department. So while I'm not expecting the next coming of Thief, I'm cautiously optimistic that stealth will be more satisfying this time around.

2 and 6 really are must-haves, but the rest would be nice.

I think there is a chance that #6 will be featured.
