Not all of our ideas are bad, just 99% of them. That 1% though, is gold.

Don't use all caps in your title what you have to say isn't more important then anyone else.

I don't quite think telling the devs to stop listening to us altogether is necessary. There are a few good ideas, as rare as they might be..

With the amount of pressure Bethesda has to create a game that exceeds what they've previously made, I think they understand a little better than us what they need in the game. I am hoping for a good balance between appealing to the masses, and appealing to me. But, luckily for me I play on the PC, so anything I see fit to change I can. (for the most part)

Correction*** Bethesda please keep listening to your fans. Just ignore the stupid ones. ***

The forums are our direct line to Bethesda. This is the place where all people can express their thoughts and ideas, good or bad (even if its mostly the latter). There have been plenty of times that things were changed or implemented due to public outcry on the forums. In addition, Bethesda has responded directly to forum issues both with in-game dialogue (Maiq the Liar) and in changes made to their newer games.

All in all, I think we should trust their judgement on what is right and what is wrong for The Elder Scrolls. After all, they did create it.

We make up about less then 5% of the sales figures give or take members who buy used or just come here to complain. I would hope they watch but never trust the forums rigamarole.

I'm sure what Hines meant by them not listening to fans and forums is that they don't do so on an official basis. I'm sure Bethesda employees read the forum, but "listening to" in the context that you are implying? No. The devs are paid to come up with ideas, but if their brainstorming in part comes from reading what players have to say, what's the problem? Its not like they are going to go to their developer's meeting and "plagiarize" their contribution for the day directly from a forum post. If they see something that has a glimmer of merit and got any inspiration or direction from it, and bring it up at a meeting, it isn't going straight from that into production. There are going to be many discussions, documentations, plans, approvals, denials, revisions, and quality assurance checks between it getting blurted out or repeated in a meeting, and showing up on your disk.

So bethesda shouldn't listen to your, "don't listen to those things", thing. Paradox. An archers paradox.

But there are some ridiculous ideas about what Skyrim should have in it.. Such as options for everything...

Out of all the bad ideas on the forum, this is one of the worst.

The forum is a great alternative to focus groups and market research. They're professionals, they should listen to us, and filter out the bad ideas. we have more than couple great ones on the forum... just look at my topics  (no i'm just kidding. I don't think that highly of myself)

Which topics have you been reading?? I haven't seen any of those sorts of posts.

This.

And this thread might be the worst suggestion of them all. Of course they should listen to our suggestions, just not the bad ones.

Pete Hines has already said in the Bethesda podcast that they do not listen to, or take on board, any suggestions from the forums and never have. They have a highly creative development staff who are paid to come up with ideas every day. So you have no need to worry.

Actually, it might have been the OXM podcast.

Where the 9 hells did you get that from? not only do they listen to their -own- forums but they already tread other forums that have Oblivion and morrowind in their highlights as well, this forum is roughly 130,000 strong of which not all are specifically here for the TES series, Oblivion doles 5,000,000 sale to date. yeah they are looking.

and I agree with the OP these "suggestions" are the reason Oblivion is the way it is, Bethesda trying to address everyones complaint and concerns while trying to draw in a larger crowd, now that they see only ONE part of that works (larger crowd) maybe they will focus their efforts on doing whatever the hell they were doing that spawned Morrowind.

Shouldn't you be starting your next poll? :P

Uh oh, we're being watched by the people the OP doesn't want to listen to us.

The whole purpose of this forum is for us to express what we like and what we don't and to speculate. What shall we talk about?

I think we don't need a thread to tell someone what or who to listen to. I think they do a good job sorting that out on their own.
