Mini-Game

You know how Insomniac made Quest for Booty as a part of the R&C Future universe? What if Bethesda did something similar? I think it's unlikely another Elder Scrolls game would make it for this gaming generation. I guess it doesn't matter for PC users because they just upgrade components of their computers, so they don't really have a generation like console users do. But the current generation may only last another 4-5 years at most, and I don't think another ES game would come out in that time. If it did it would likely be at the end of this generation, and would be a repeat of morrowind with Bethesda wanting to wait till the next generation. If that becomes the case we will probably end up waiting at least 6 years for another ES game after Skyrim. Which would svck, even if a Fallout game came out in the mean time it's not the same as ES.

So what if like 2 years after Skyrim is released, a smaller or spin-off title was released similar to QFB. It could be based in a smaller territory maybe even just a large island or a chain of islands. There are many small islands scattered around Tamrial which could be used for this. It would be a smaller game with the main quest only being a few hours long and only having maybe a dozen or so quests. It would be a nice break in the wait between the major titles and could allow Bethesda to try things that would be too risky or costly to try in a major title. Climbing or new swimming mechanics would be great examples.

An example of what the plot could be is how something that starts out small has the potential to threaten one of the mainlands if it isn't stopped. Something like a terrorist group similar to the Red Dawn. Or a powerful ancient deadra has been summoned/released that could threaten the world if it is not stopped early enough, maybe its not initially at full power. It would just involve stopping a threat while it's still vulnerable. The game should be small enough(data wise) so it could be sold on PSN and XBL. It could be sold on Steam or something for PC users, and could cost 10-20 dollars. I think a non-major title like this would be a great idea and I hope everyone gives the thought a chance.

What you're talking about sounds like DLC/expansion, or am I wrong?

Assuming that's what you're talking about; yes, we will get DLCs. Apparently not expansions -sniff- :(

Interesting idea, something like http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Redguard:Redguard or http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Battlespire:Battlespire.

Neither of which have anything whatsoever to with Skyrim, however.

This would just take developers off the main project meaning it would be 7-8 years after TESV that TESVI is ready for release.

Not for me. I would love a TES games every year if they could hire another 500 team members then that would be possible (Team of 100 takes 6 years and team of 600 takes a year) otherwise I am happy with the wait as long as the quality continues.
