Underwater Beasts?

Post » Fri Apr 08, 2011 12:08 pm

I'm the sort of person that is easily struck with awe in the presence of the oceans and cosmos. I, for one, would love to see Hermaeus Mora in person. (or in this case, daedra) Should the next game feature sea creatures beyond simple mud crabs, slaughter fish, and dreughs? Should we fight a sea dragon in the darkest depths or maybe simply go fishing by the rivers of Skyrim?

Mermaids. Topless ones.

Other than that, I often thought some kind of big tentacled monster (like the thing in the pool outside the Mines of Moria in Lord of the Rings movie) that could grab you and drag you into the water and eat you or drown you. Maybe you have a chance to cut the tentacles and get away otherwise you get eaten. If that would be technically feasible that might be cool.

1: i think that is technicaly feasible

2: the mermaids should have little underwater villages- they seem lore friendly, although a boring tail would make me "carbon copy"

I agree with Jayne we need mermaids, preferably topless.

Well since there appears to be some underwater foilage in one of the screenshots, I wouldn't be suprised if they added more sea life as well.

Getting attacked by a squid while under the dark, murky water = scariest video game moment ever :o

Wouldn't underwater fighting be difficult in this type of game. Underwater was really more about exploration to me, and the simple underwater enemies(mud crab, slaughter fish) were there just so it wasn't completely dead down there. Aside from the fish those other too I fought on land more often. Unless they made some changes to swimming mechanics I think it would be too difficult to fight a sea dragon unless it stayed still. Maybe if it was a partial underwater fight it would be possible, but otherwise I don't think it would work. Maybe something like a shark or squid would be okay?

If you could look 360o Then I don't see why it would be a problem. All you really need is water breathing. I suppose a kraken could grab you from levitating to the bottom of the ocean causing the water breathing potions essential! I don't know about you, but picturing myself enjoying the view in a peaceful stroll a few feet above the waters of Skyrim and then svcked to the dark, cold, depths of the ocean would cause me to [censored] bricks!

I've always wanted large monsters to fight underwater, but I know I'm not alone when I say that it would be initially stressful and panicky.

I've posted this on other 'sea monsters' threads but it always stands out as the best underwater battle I've ever had in any videogame.

Admittedly, I doubt Skyrim could implement anything as massive and engaging but hopefully there will be creatures of surmountable size lurking in the Sea of Ghosts.

Yep, this. Besides... I kinda read the title wrong, so this is what I assumed it was about.

Who knows how they will implement underwater itself?

I doubt there will be a large number of aquatic bodies in such a mountainous area

If theres one thing that creeps me out is fighting underwater against a large sea creature xP, I think the shock would just make me unable to act. Ofc i could just avoid going into the water :P
