Yeah lets call it water, not slightly off milk.
I'm so loving the amount of quotage in this thread.

Back on topic, freezing water damage would be cool if it was accurate, in fact any type of cold damage would be quite cool and something else to think about.

Maybe if different races at different resistances to the damage, so certain races could be almost immune to it whereas others are vulnerable to it.

The idea as presented wouldn't make sense from a physics standpoint to have the water doing damage. Remember, water freezes at 0 C. So you'll never find water below 0 C (unless it's got anti-freeze). Ocean water may freeze about a degree lower than that.

Now, the reason cold water causes hypothermia in real life is what happens after you leave the water. If there's wind, the air blowing over your wet skin causes evaporative cooling, which eventually causes hypothermia minutes later. In fact, the temperature of the water is largely irrelevant. In cold air, it doesn't matter if the water is 0 degrees or 20 degrees.

So...we can have a situation where all bodies of water, regardless of water temperature, cause damage, but only 5 minutes after you leave the water...or we can just forget about it.

Normal oceanwater (not close to a glacier or a river etc) freezes at around 1.9-2.0 degrees celsius. And that is cold.

Still - water which is only little above 0 degrees, would still drain your body heat in a very short time - and thereby cause "physical damage". But yes - the part after you leave the water is also nasty-cold.

I though this thread was gonna be talking about using ice spells to create "stepping stones" across the water... :(

Me too.

Another question - could water be frozen by weather ?

Well with scripting we can place large plane with Ice texture and material reflection over water surface, such plane will have collision so it can be walkable but with some additional scripting walking on such surface can be slipper and force move player into some way as well with chance of fall, there is also can be check for attributes like agility to not stumble and check for equipment having spiked boots protect from slippery have large inventory increase chances to slipper, another things if such plane will be made from many small ones we can replace at critical fail another plane activator thats looks like broken one with hole under player character without collision and generate some floating in water ice debris around hole.
Such scripted situation can be used for some quest battle, and will make it more interesting is this not?

This is actually a pretty cool idea. It actually seems kind of obvious.

We do know that the wheather have influences in the environment (water waves, trees, etc). Nothing menttioned about influences in the character, but i hope it does! If not, i will look for some mods to do it so! :ahhh:
