Being a guild leader...

Post » Tue Apr 12, 2011 3:47 am

When i became guild leaders in several guilds oblivion. There wasn't much to do afterwards. Like in the Dark brotherhood you could only receive 200 gold a week while with the Fighters guild you could choose if you want to have your guild members to turn in more items or gold. I am hoping that there will be more features and content available for guilds after you completed all it's quests.

What are you guys hoping for?

I think Todd mentioned that that role will be fleshed out in one of the interviews or one of the factions so I hope he have something fantastic in store for us. I'm not sure how I would want it though.

Well I hope more people outside the factions themselves will acknowledge you as the faction's leader this time around. I also think it'd be cool to have a list of quests posted every week or so for certain factions, and be able to take whatever faction members you wanted to along with you. Or send them to go or ignore them if your lazy ofcourse. All I know is I was disappointed when the Dark Brotherhood quest line was over. It was by far the best, and I wish instead of bringing that list to someone and having them go get people to invite, there could be a list of people that need murdering. However in the case of assassinations, it should be limited. I don't want every NPC in Skyrim to be dead, and I definitelly don't want randomly spawned NPCs that never existed before.

I agree. There should be a bigger reward for becoming a guild leader.

These factions have a significant impact on the countries they are in. People come to the guilds to finish jobs they can't. Surely saving someone's life is a little more valuable than a couple hundred gold pieces? Maybe 200 gold pieces is supposed to be a lot in the game, but it doesn't buy squat. Also, the occasional collection of 200 gold is less than I would have made doing quests for the guild at a lower rank. WTF, mate?

If Bethesda cannot add some sort of extra game play experience to make guild leadership feel rewarding, then I think they should at least allow us to use our guilds like cash cows.

I agree with what you say here. I would like to see some more depth into guild management and some investment into guild halls and it's members

Id kinda like to see something like Assassins Creed Brotherhood did, where you can assign members on missions or call on them to help(companions, I guess). Doing missions would level them up and gain some coin for the guild, with a chance of failure resulting in their death or just failure(they dont die). Coolest thing would be going with them on missions, not them following you but you following them.

Edit: Also I think expansions on guild storylines would be a perfect way of doing some DLCs.

I've never got the point on being guild leader, I mean, I can't see any guild willing to give the control some new guy, when there are (or should be) docens of members being there for years and with their own wishes and ambitions.

However, if that's the way they do (again), this could be cool:

- Dark Brotherhood: as said before, MORE ASSASSINATIONS. And please, give the option to either send some guildies to do it OR do it ourselves. And I I definitelly DO want randomly spawned NPCs that never existed before if that's the only way to get it; after all, if killing a trader means that his son/daughter/wife/cousin Bob gets the shop, I could well kill the count of any village and gladly see his nephew succeeding the castle.

- Fighter's Guild: missions, and either to option to do it ourselves or command any guildie to do it (or even pass) These missions should be "public", I mean, villagers should ask for help, and so the guild will respond.

- Thieves Guild: we should be able to organize some jobs with our guildies, command them to do it, or even better, something similar to BG2, decide what should the guild do (smuggle, muggings or sneakiy thefts), and even being able to invest in improvements and trainings for our guildies. In fact, these cold well be able in every faction.

- Mages Guild: this is somewhat complicate, since I see mages in TES with a "politician" feeling; that said, being the Archimage should give you something to do with the local policy. In addition, there should be some kind of investigation related to the guild, to magic itself or (at least) some spells. Mages are supossed to be erudites, the DO study and investigate to create, modify or improve spells, enchants, potions, etc... We should be able to command investigations to our guildies, at least.

And so on... To sum up, leading a guild/faction should have any mean, should have any sense, and should give us something to do with it.

It also shouldnt be a boring annoying minigame, like being a landlord in Fable games. Like no mindlessly stupid upkeep, thats what assistants are for!

I hope you can become leader of only one or a few guilds. Lets say you're leader of the Fighters Guild, you should want to bring down the Thieves Guild by killing their leader or the Thieves Guild trying to steal from the leader of other guilds or even the Thieves Guild trying to kill other leaders. I like how in ACB you could have your followers carry out contracts so I hope that if you're the leader of the guild you can do something similar to that too.
