How many years have you played each TES game and how many ye

Post » Mon Apr 11, 2011 10:51 pm

I started playing Morrowind around release date, maybe a couple of weeks after and Mods mean that I still revisit Morrowind on the PC to this day.

Oblivion I still play on the xbox since the day before the release date (god I love pre-ordering and having a brother in-law working at Game)

Skyrim will be played until TES VI is released, whenever that may be.

I plan to play Skyrim till the next TES game comes out.. Unless it svcks.

I've been playing Oblivion off and on for 5 years. (It'll be 5 on May 7th.)
Same disc the entire time.

I've also owned Morrowind for the same amount of time, but I only have like 3 hours invested into it.

Morrowind: 1000+ hrs on Xbox from 2002-2005. Tried to go back on the PC in 2008 but unfortunately knowing the location of everything as well as every single exploit combined with the annoyingly tedious "around my elbow to get to my thumb" travel system made it glaringly apparent that there was no going back. I still credit Morrowind as the most prolific game of my gaming career but at that time had retired it to the annals of my gaming history. That is until the day http://cfkasper.de/ultima/index.php releases on the Morrowind engine, then I'll dust off my GOTY once again.

Oblivion: 1500+ hrs(700+ vanilla) on PC from 2006-2010, 1000+hrs modding from 2008-2009. I would have logged many more hours than that had FO3 not taken 1000+ hrs of my time playing/modding 70/30. I thought i was over it but I loaded it onto my new PC last night and i have to be honest, It's quite a different experience on a higher native resolution(1440x900) at max settings(4xAA and no lighting, hate the lighting, never used it, ever) with steady 80 fps. Going to see just how far i can push it now(modding) and still have a usable frame rate but first I'm just going to enjoy vanilla as long as i can. 2hrs and counting...

Daggerfall: 25 hrs on the PC in Feb 2011. I really wish i would have discovered this game back when M&M was about the only RPG that interested me. Morrowind ruined me forever for anything less than a full seamless open world with real time interaction. Daggerfall may as well be Final Fantasy at this point. Though it's clear it would have blown away everything else I had ever played at that time it's just too late for me.

I'm going to go play Oblivion and throw fireballs a thousand yards at unsuspecting foes. :hubbahubba:

I played through Morrowind about 5 times.

I played through Oblivion about 3 times.

I expect to play through Skyrim 5-6 times.

I have just recently started playing Daggerfall with the dosbox emulator and it's not easy for me. Haven't even made level 2 yet...
Have played Morrowind (& expansions & mods) since shortly after its release. My favorite. I could not even accurately guess how much time I've spent in that game. Maybe over 2000 hrs. probably not over 3000...who knows?
Have played Oblivion (& Shivering Isles) since it's release, have never finished the MQ...and no where near the time spent in MW, but I would say close to 1000 hours though.
(I'm guessing on these, but a LOT of time. A LOT OF TIME!....and still playing them.)
Skyrim will no doubt provide similar replay value.

I do not play any other games besides Bethesda games, and was never a 'real gamer' before Morrowind.

I've been playing OB for about 2 1/2 years now, probably over 1K hours in all over several character types. it has pretty much usurped all of my playtime aside from a short break for Batman AA, and another short break for the WoW expansion.

I've tried to start MW a few times but the game just hasn't aged well. I get about 1 hour into it, lmao at the ridiculous combat mechanics (swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, swing miss, dead), and go back to OB.

I feel the same way about MW, using a bow. Shoot miss, Shoot miss, Shoot miss, Short miss, Shoot miss, Rage quit.

My TES career started by buying Oblivion on 2006. I have played each major questline only once, but i have created multiple characters over the years but none of them have completed any of the questlines again which is quite odd.

So 4 ? years on TES i presume. ( Didn't buy in launch since i bought it by a friend's recommendation.)

In 2009 i bought Morrowind. However i haven't played it as much as Oblivion (not because it has worse graphics), but i still highly value and enjoy the game. I have played it on-off every once and a while so i haven't been able to finish any major questlines, since i have started a new character each time i have started playing again. I think i will finally complete the game till Skyrim comes along.

I also started Arena last summer only completed the starter dungeon and got a bit bewildered, but i started just recently playing it again and i am in that Stonekeep place to find some parchment or scroll. So maybe i have played only few hours on it.

TL;DR:
Oblivion: 4? years (still going on/off with mods)
Morrowind: 2 years on/off
Arena: 3-4 hours

EDIT:

Oh, Skyrim. Most probably 3-4 years. Depends on the modding community and the game itself.

Arena, 2-3h (Seems great. will play it when I get time.)
Daggerfall, 10h (I'm not to sure I can get into this one.)
Morrowind, 150h+ (I'm on my first playthrough.)
Oblivion 500h+ (Still playing of course.)
Skyrim, ? (Now that I've discovered mods, I'll play untill TES:VI hits Steam.)

I've spent no more than 4 mounths playing TES. When I play, I play.

No more than 4 months? How come you don't think you'll be able to get into Daggerfall?

I've played Morrowind since I got it in 2004/2005, and Oblivion since I got it in 2008. I expect to play Skyrim for at least ten years.

Morrowind: Been playing ever since it's initial release in 2002 or 2003 can't remember which.

Oblivion: Been playing since it's release in 2006. Haven't stopped.

I've played other games in between, but I first owned both MW and OB on the PC, for modding purposes. When I moved out of my parents, my PC died, so I got my 360, and PS3, got Morrowind for Xbox, Oblivion for PS3, still playing now.

As for Skyrim, I predict a similar type of deal. It will occupy most of my free time when it first comes out, and even though I may lose some interest after a few months of solid play, it will still grab my attention for as long as I own it. And I plan on owning it for a looooong time.

Arena - on and off for a bit less than a year
Daggerfall - on an off for a bit more than a year
Morrowind - on and off for a year
Oblivion - nonstop play for the first 4 months and on and off for the next bit over two years

I'm still playing them each, at least a little.

Edit: Then took it up again when I got Morrowind 22 dec 2010.

in 1998 i played daggerfall for about a year.

Then morrowind came out in 2002 and played that until oblivion, i do still play morrowind to this day but quite rarely.

In 2007, a year after oblivion released, i bought oblivion (not knowing it wasn't even released a year before 07 because i was traveling). To this day i play it very often, i currently make my own mods like armor and weapons with my decent knowledge of modeling (i start courses for 3D designing next year as a matter of fact).

As for skyrim i'm expecting it to be alot better than any elder scrolls series, if so i may stick to it for a very long time.

So going back, I played Morrowind for 3 years, Oblivion for 4 years and hell I'd still go back and play Oblivion again if I wasn't PC'less at the moment. So that being said, and given the fact that so many of us are old school players going back to Daggerfall or even Arena. How many years have you played each TES game and how many years do you think you'll get out of Skyrim?

I see no reason why I wouldn't get another 3-4 years out of Skyrim and if modding is fully supported more than that (I haven't kept up, I'm only an occasional poster here).

i started with daggerfall...i was usually a nord...sometimes friends and family had fun making new characters just to see if they were able to get out of the first dungeon....some friends or family stopped playing...but some friends and family will play forever...my brother is a vegas person for instance...but he didn't like it so much and went back to playing oblivion....he mailed me the other day about a place filled with blind monks...and even though we have played alot...i had to look it up...neither of us had ever pursued the thieves guild....unbelievable that after all these years we missed a few places...i love it
