One of the things I really, really, really, really, really liked about Oblivion and Morrowind is Bethesda didn't make the armor and weapons ridiculously outlandish. It kinda looked like armor was supposed to look, not like Batman's body armor.

This. Just say "no" to outlandish. Like that absurd armor and bow in the OP.

I think it should look like chainmail made out of dragon scales. It would be light armor, and come in red and black variants.

I don't even want "dragon" weapons, so it should be completely freakin' invisible.

As for armor, I can't see how "dragon scale mail" isn't completely self-explanatory.
