Weapon spell combo

Let's say that you don't have time to nip back to the mages guild to enchant your weapon. Do you think it would be a good idea to use a equipped spell to combine with your weapon for a short while. Like using a fire spell would heat up your sword and make it glow red thus giving it more slashing damage. It would cool a varying times depending where you are. It cool very fast if you where in the snow rather than a forest. What you think discuss

Couldn't you just cast a fire spell and use your sword at the same time? And we don't know how enchanting will work whether we'll be able to do it while we're travelling or go to our guild to enchant so you could just enchant it while you're wandering around.

Meh, seems okay. The cooling down thing, there's absolutely no need for that, it's freakin magic ;)

I think theres a couple mods like this, just linking to show others also like the idea. The one I use(forget its name) lets you cast any spell on a weapon as long as its also a normal enchantment(like you cant put Restoration spells on it, but any damaging or drain spells work) and it works by draining your mana pool until you turn it off.

I like this idea alot! I had a topic addressing something like this in enchanting. A temporary damage booster on your weapon for a short time, like a short enchant. Could be a perk for enchant or something. I think this sort of thing is exactly what Spellswords, Battlemages, and Nightblades need to get a different style than simply hitting people like a warrior while alternately biking like a mage, it help set playstyles apart and provide more options.

It's been said that all the crafting skills will require a workstation: forge(smithing), lab(alchemy), enchanter's alter(enchanting)

Btw, no I hate that idea. Defeats the purpose of enchanting.

Oh sorry I haven't heard that yet. But I do agree that it does defeat the purpose of enchanting a bit.

I think this would gimp enchanting in theory though.

Apparently enchanting is only used on weapons and not 8 other item slots? Guess it would be a total ruin!
