New Armor and Weapon Type:Vampiric

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 9:43 am

Since you ask my opinion, I say no.

Perhaps the forums is getting to negative, so let me explain why I say no and why I post no alternative. First, I could give guar's behind if vampires and werewolves end up in Skyrim. Yes, they were in Morrowind and, yes, vampirism raised it's ugly head in Oblivion, too. Many people like the idea and if seems Todd Howard likes 'em, too. So Bethesda if wants to put them, fine, put 'em in. Gives me something else to kill.

Heh.
Maybe we could use fire to turn the ash and dust into some sort of relatively hard substance suitable for armor.

Well, small particles can be used to make glass, but not any small particles (also, "glass" is not melted sand in TES, it's a mineral (I don't know what they call the stuff in their windows)). Ash is already burnt. It's carbon. It can't be melted and forged like that.

vampires in TES aren't a race, they're a disease. for them to make their own unique weapons and armor would be like zombies making weapons and armor.

yeah. vampires should wear regular armour. at the very most if they were to have their own armour it would be a combination of leather and cloth- not weird crap

Well, to be honest, I think Vampire Clan armors would be a bit better than just Vampiric Armor. You know, traditional armors. Eh, anyway, the only items I know of that relate to dragons is the Dragonbone Cuirass, the Fang of Haneyktnamet (Hope I spelled that right), and the Amulet of Kings (Which is gone now).

After looking at the armor I feel sorry for the fool wearing it.

When you call an item vampiric it generally means it svcks life from someone. A suit of vampiric armor sounds as if it svcks the life from the wearer as a curse of some kind.

I seriously doubt the devs are in the process of designing much of anything for the game since we are so close to release. They may be tweaking game play elements or squashing bugs but I assume that everything else is done.

This might be an idea for a mod, but as game content, it doesn't work. Besides that armor is horrible.

I like the short sword but I hate the armor. I'm not even sure if armor is necessary at all, it could simply be a black robe, and when I say robe I don't mean Oblivion style silly balett-dancer outfit robes. I'd use that short sword though :)

Now of course vampiric isn't a material, but I higly doupt elven weapons/armor is made of elves.. As one signature claims..

Vampiric armour sounds painful. Vampire armour would be nice, but only if it looks like http://daarken.com/warhammer/vampire.jpg. I don't like the art style in the OP's examples.

Not sure I get what makes an armour 'vampiric'. Is it made of vampire skin? Made by vampires of a particular clan? If so, what material?

I think the examples so far have been a bit too 'Dracula' in their representations of vampires, I don't think vampires in Tamriel would fashionably inspired by the Bram Stoker-ish stereotype (haven't been so far, anyway).
