So our fast-travel prayers have been answered.

Well, I'm more than satisfied with this news. I feel like Bethesda definitely listens to its fans now that they added this fast travel alternative.

What makes you think they "listened to the fans" and didn't add this from the beginning? Just because they didn't reveal it until now?

I'll travel the various paths between locations maybe 2-3 times, and switch to da magic map. Unless there is a reason to continually defeat the same enemies that respawn over and over, there's not a lot of reason to avoid FT. Random encounters or dragons might be a good reason to not use FT that much, but I will still use it a lot.

I think of the character I play as a character in a book. If I were recounting the epic tales of my character, I would hate to have to devote so many pages of nothing but walking. There is a reason movies and books don't usually go out of the way to describe what each character does, when they go to sleep, what they eat for breakfast, how many trees they walked by, etc. So skipping over the boring parts of the game really makes me happy FT is around.

Exellent! Sound reasoning. I think it's tby far he best FastTravel advocacy i've read on this forum.
Well done.

they probably did add it near the beginning. But fans wanted this ever since Oblivion first revealed the map travel.

yes. thats the "use both somewhat evenly" option. its just talking about what you'll use for FAST TRAVEL, not for travel in general. If your not using any fast travel, then there's an option for that.

But I WILL use fast travel. I won't nearly use them to the extent you're stating though.
I will walk probably 90% of the time and use the other each 5%

so
TOTAL TRAVEL:

90% walking

10% fast travel

poll is asking which form of fast travel will you use most. you said:

5% map
5% carriage
^so you choose "i will use both somewhat evenly" because your fast travel usage is projected to be 50/50

the poll is asking about fast travel, not total travel.

This has been answered repeatedly on this thread.

It's been mentioned that they may act as Silt Striders and you said that fast traveling through the woods would be dangerous but do we know for sure? Will fast traveling be like Oblivion or Daggerfall? Can you store stuff in your carriages? Neat ideas but I'm not sure if they've revealed anything.

oh, there's no info on them yet. we can only speculate. I imagine it will be like RDR's fast travel.

Some of us talk about it on http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1177992-you-have-been-waylaid-by-enemies-and-must-defend-yourself/ thread

I like travel services. I can see why some people don't, but its great to me. So I will use them all of the time.
I just hope there is variety, rather than just carriages, im sure they can be creative with travel services...

We now have more choice. Map Travel, Carriages, or hoofing it.

I expect each individual playing this game has their own reasons for choosing a style, and I will not fault them.

My personal preferece will be to "hoof it" as much as is practical. The carriage option sounds interesting, and I will probably at least give it a try if I don't feel like "walking." The magic map has no appeal for me, especially when carriages will be available. I am also hoping for a horse to ride and a pack animal. Maybe even a horse drawn cart like in Daggerfall, with updated graphics for hauling items.

It is going to be a long hot summer...

I think fast travel has it's uses but I was kind of hoping it'd be left out. It's inclusion draws me to the speculation that radiant story will have a lot of courier type missions. Deliver from A to B. I can just kill any NPC that asks me to be a delivery boy though I suppose. :toughninja:

Patrolling the summer makes you wish for Skyrim to be released.

The inclusion of FT does not automatically equal more courier missions. Morrowind didn't have fast travel and it had a lot more courier missions than Oblivion did. I personally find FT a necessity when questing because if i didn't have it I would take forever to complete quests because I'd keep getting distracted with exploration.
