CONTROLING DRAGONS AFTER DEFETING IT.

 We are not saying that! We are saying one of the ways to get to the top of the mountain is by FOLLOWING A TRAIL! Did you get that? FOLLOWING A TRAIL!
We are NOT saying that you can only follow trails to get to areas, nor has this been confirmed (never going to happen anyway).

so basic we are just going to follow the paths and look at the big mountain where we cant go. maybe i dont want to go up the mountain like everone else.

I honestly want as little as possible to do with dragons. I will kill them when they bother me, probably can't help using the shouts, and the main quest, it seems, will be filled with them, but besides that, I don't want to fly them or control them or anything like that.

No thank you to flying. I'm all for levitation coming back but it needs to be limited to only a very short distance just to get to ledges in a dungeon that you can't normally get to, such as draining your magicka constantly and quickly so that you can only go about 70 feet in the air and 40 feet in any direction before you run out of magicka and topple to Nirn. As for riding dragons, no thank you and also we know we won't be either. Also, no riding cliffracers

ok so skyrim is a smaller map then normal, then you can only go where their are paths villages and lil breaks. these mountain are big and take up the map so of course its going to be small.

Skyrim is not all snowy mountains you know, there's forests and lakes that aren't covered in snow at all too, also who said you can only go on the trails? That would be extremely boring and not very TES at all.
Plus if the mountains are big that means there's more stuff you can put on them like villages or whatever strikes their fancy.

Edit: also skyrim is not a smaller map than normal it is roughly the same size as oblivion and that is pretty big.

Also you ask for a reason not to have dragon mounts. They are servants of Alduin the World eater they are bent upon destroying the world and everything in it including you. So why would it let you ride it?

like i said before, there's a lore/setting friendly explanaton for flying as a dragon:

there's always the idea of shapeshifting into a dragon by means of a dragon shout.

in elders scrolls lore, the dragons themselves are rumored to have shapeshifting abilities to disguise themselves and rosh taka has also been rumored to have succeeded in transforming himself into a dragon.

In all fairness, Sleign did a few posts up. If Skyrim's not designed with semi-permanent or unrestricted flight in mind, then any flying mount would essentially break the game. If levitation's not a spell effect, this is almost certainly the case.

It's one of those things better left to modders, perhaps - Saiden Storm did a great job of that in Oblivion, after all.

Because it's a cheap mechanic that appeals to people who don't understand the lore regarding these proud, intellegent beasts that do not lower themselves to being some sort of steed for a race they probably deem lesser than themselves.

Another thought..... just because it's an "open world" Elder Scrolls game, doesn't mean you can personally set foot on every square meter of ground. Some of those taller, pointier peaks look like you won't be able to walk/climb/crawl/rappel your way up to? Gee, maybe that means that.... you're not going to be able to get there.

So you went from wanting dragon mounts to wanting to see people from the top of a mountain? Buy it for PC and crank the view distance I guess??

 crushing my dreams

No one is trying to crush your dreams man, we're all just fans like you, but some things can be done, and for the sake of quality and believability other things shouldn't be done. Dragon mounts, and being able to climb some 80 degree angles just shouldn't be done, in my opinion.
