Skyrim the best RPG of all time.

I think he was taking a shot at BioWare.

They are RPGs (Mass Effect) (Dragon Age) small examples of many out there.

Obstructionist Said this.

Let's not actually. The OB -vs- MW battle is beyond old at this point. They really should just shut down threads soon as they stray there.

That Is selfish since many people use those forums including me shutting them down Is out of the question. :)

Not sure you understood what I typed there. I mean they should shut down threads soon as they veer off-topic into tiresome OB-v-MW debates. It's been done to death, there is really no reason to rehash it anymore. I didn't mean shut down the whole forum lol.... :teehee:

Heh, im not targeting just bioware... They are already getting alot of bad comments. I hate to say it, but i feel sorry for them.

You shouldn't feel sorry for them. They followed up DAO with that sorry excuse of a sequel DA2. They should feel sorry for us.

what the hells peoples issue with oblivion  it was a very good game sure the story was bad compared to you know kind of being a reincarnated elven hero who is meant to stop an evil immortal fiend who is the leader of a lost evil great house. and some of the faces looked plain freakish but the combat was good the graphics where great for its time it had humor at some points (mostly at the expense of the entire bosmer race) and tyhe level scaling nearly crippled it. but still dont knock oblivion sure in a few peoples opinion it was horrid but know this it is still above most other games of its kind *cough* especcialy the entire fable series *cough*

For an average game, if I were to pick it up, I'd likely have no issues with it. It's a phenomenal game and I chugged countless hours into it.

But my gripes are that they watered down Morrowind, which I liked more, to sell to more casual gamers. You can argue against that as much as you like, but I see no way you can't say that actually happened, and I don't think anyone can say anything to change my mind on the subject. And it worked, honestly. Oblivion sold through the roof, even to friends of mine that couldn't get into Morrowind. Great business tactic, I'm just one of those people that liked the simpler things in Morrowind that others didn't.

But still, I'm not arguing them here. I loved Morrowind and thoroughly enjoyed Oblivion. I hope Skyrim brings us the best of both games.

Indeed they should I do regret buying the game, Dragon age awakening seemed to me have a better story line too It compared to this. No matter everyone has a oppinion.

So when do you guys think unintelligent people will stop posting redundant pointless threads like this one right here? how many threads have been on this matter already? how many more till they've had enough. let me make one thing clear.
There is no such thing as the best *** of all time. only the best *** for the time being and in your opinion, another person may always disagree  like those who don't play *** for example

1 Shut Up
2 Its the persons personal opinion on what they think the best rpg is.

A sorry excuse that has out-sold DA:O immediately... While it may not be the traditional "old school" RPG Origins was, it's far from a "sorry excuse." Being a PC gamer myself, I personally thought DA2 was a much better optimized game for a smoother experience. Would I like for BioWare to bring back more RPG elements that they clearly neglected? Yes. Just look at ME3. BioWare is bringing back a lot of the RPG elements, while not losing the action-packed elements of ME2. They just need to find a perfect medium so all will be happy.

As far as the thread, my two favorite RPG developers are BioWare and Bethesda Game Studios. One brings impactful and choice-driven story that actually matters, while the other allows the player to go wherever they want and do whatever they want. Two very different styles, yet both are amazing and truly immerse the player for hours of fun and many play-throughs.

DAO was amazing, Mass Effect blew me away. ME2 wasn't as good a story but a more engaging game and it kept me at the edge of my seat at the end because the only thing I knew is that if I didn't do things right, anyone on my team, including Shepard, could possibly die. I lost teammates, and I was heartbroken, but all in all the ending in ME2 was great for it.

Sure, and it will likely cure cancer, end world hunger, and single-handedly bring about the apocalypse by tearing the universe apart due to how awesome it will be. [/sarcasm]

Truthfully, it's one game that is subject to opinion and no person's opinion is any more valid than another's. Skyrim is perhaps my most anticipated game ever, but that's my view of it and just my view of it. It is not going to be the pinnacle of the RPG genre. No game can ever take that position because, again, opinions are all very equal and valid things that vary greatly. I guarantee there will be people who don't even believe Skyrim is an RPG. I've seen a few on these forums who have already made that claim. These forums, alone, display strong disagreements on what may be the best Bethesda RPG, let alone the best RPG ever, and the RPG genre is so vast and diverse that Skyrim likely doesn't even appeal one bit to many RPG fans.

It may very well become the best RPG of all time. It would have to be the last TES game though.

Haha, well said.

I agree that with RPG's, there's Bethesda then there's the rest. I don't know why other companies make RPG's like the TES. Too lazy to put that much effort into one game?

The only games that are better RPG's than a TES game is the next one. Other RPG's are great and I enjoy them, but they don't hit me like TES does.

Wasteland and Fallout 1, bar none, are the past and present epitome of Western/American RPGs or maybe even the whole genre in general.

Need I say more?

*Goes back to playing The Witcher like a hypocrite*

There are plenty of "best RPG" threads in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/forum/18-community-discussion/ already. Let's use those.
