A.I. wants YOU to do EVERYTHING!

First off, I'm just going to say i'm not trying to bash the game, or hate on it or gamesas/SD. I indoubtely LOVE this game to death right now. The only problem I'm having is the Artificial Intelligence in this game...

I was playing a Private Game, on Resort. (Usually Security can skunk the living crud out of the Resistance).

There seriously was not ONE Soldier on my Team, at all. ALL the AI kept picking was Operative and Engineer (we don't even NEED an Engineer, seriously?). SO, I took it upon myself to go Soldier and plant the charge on the pillar MYSELF. Get it there, get it down to like 4 seconds, DISCHARGED!

Do it again, they discharge it in under 5-10 seconds...

So, I say to myself F THIS, im going Security because they're OBVIOUSLY wailing on us like a ragdoll. That's when I found the ultimate prize of them all. NO MATTER WHAT TEAM YOUR ON, the AI on YOUR SIDE is always acting like 5-year old thumb svcking idiots?!

Basically, it doesn't even MATTER what Team you are on, you're Team is not going to be able to really do anything on their frikkin' own...

How'd I find this out? Soon as I switched, they got the Charge on the Pillar, GOT PAST THE BRIDGE, and even got the Bot to the end. In a matter of miniscule time. Like I was seriously fighting REAL HUMANS!?

That's when I just ragequit because it started to realllllyyy give me a headache insanely..

Why is it that the AI wants you to do EVERY Objective, kill EVERYONE, and expect to be alive at the end of all of that?! They basically appoint YOU as the OMA (One Man Army)?

This and the incredibly crazy rubber banding online are my only problems. MAINLY the AI. I really, realllllyyyy hope theres a TU or a patch or SOMETHING to fix this AI. Here's how AI SHOULD ACT!:

Campaign:

Easy: MY team are gods, there Teams a bunch of infants
Normal: BOTH teams are Balanced, NEITHER team are GODS
Hard: Your teams smart, not a baby. And the opposing side are Smart, but just a weeeeee bit Smarter?

Doesn't act that way at all, that's how it SHOULD act, but it fails to do so.

What are your guys' thoughts on AI?

Allied AI is only really good being damage sponges and taking out several enemies. That's about it. My strategy has been to simply flank the enemy and cut them off. Your guys are still smart enough to do the objective up to just barely completing it, they're just god awful at doing that AND securing the area AND leaving CP's alone for 2 god-****ed seconds.

Basically, move forward, secure the location, inch forward, secure the location, inch forward... rinse and repeat until you get to the objective, and pray you alone can hold the area until reinforcements show up in the event your team still manages to get itself wiped out.

But in all seriousness, a good start to improving friendly AI would be limiting the number of bots that dedicate to a CP to a mere 1. There doesn't need to be a 5 man cluster over every CP that isn't ours.

AI teammates tend to get dumb whenever we get close to finishing the mission, lol! They are just.....meh.

However, I think I found a bit of a solution, at least, temporarily for a short time: Both AI tend to freak out over Command Posts/secondary missions, so what I did was take
one of the enemies' Command Posts and the enemy AI freaked out and went towards the Command Post (with some guys still
guarding/camping at Primary Objective, ugh), and the teammate AI followed the enemy.
That's how I got to be alone and FINALLY do my Soldier thing and blow up the gate. I'm so going to try that again to see if it will help with other missions, lol! :D

I'd have to agree with many points here.

My character is Lv18 and the opposing team is:

-organized
-efficient
-highly effective
-employs teamwork

My team however is:

-mentally deficient
-run around like chickens with their heads cut off
-do not use teamwork, or buff each other
-don't coordinate to assault or secure objectives
-busy themselves with ill relevant side objectives (WE DON'T NEED TO KEEP TRADING THE COMMAND POSTS FOR 10 MINUTES, LET THEM CAPTURE IT AND WE CAN GET MORE IMPORTANT THINGS DONE LIKE WINNING) while the clock ticks away on me as I attempt the ACTUAL objective.


I find that they can usually hold their own on defense, but as of late it seems that beating a campaign mission is entirely dependent on me catching a lucky break rather than trying to assist my team and secure a victory through teamwork. The scaling difficulty is bothersome, but what's life without a challenge? Even on 'easy', it took me FAR too many tries to complete the DAY 3 Smash and Grab job for the COPS.

Yup our AIs are [censored] I have to do everything witch svcks since its hard to kill anyone all by yourself

Yeah the allied AI is terrible you HAVE to do everything
The only thing i use them for is a meat shield, and for escorting hostages (they seem decent at both)
But otherwise I can never stop doing the main objective, switching class and repeat
I want to do the sub objectives... but my team is to busy soaking up bullets staring at a wall and yelling "THE ENEMY HAS CAPTURED A HEALTH COMMAND POST! GET IT BACK!"
To which i reply, F*** you get it yourself

Oh but they do, and that's part of why they're so useless :sadvaultboy:

EDIT: Just downloaded a patch, with notes:

AI Bots:
Removed bot intelligence inhibitors for Freeplay games
Adjusted bot behaviour in Campaign games to make teams more evenly matched
Changed bots’ objective priorities across all game modes
Fixed issue with bot difficulty continually dropping

That's not the WHOLE list, just what happens to be the focus of this thread (among many.)

I think they said they will include those changes in a full update on the consoles in future or something like that. ^_^

Well obviously :celebration: The PC is just the version they code first, then port to the console. PS3 users might be fubared for a while longer yet, unfortunately (I WANNA PLAY MAG NAO!)

"MAG" was alright... it seriously lacked a selection of available guns to use however... that's what made me not even get it (my roommate however did, and was exceptional at the game, and eventually traded it off?.. IDK why... LOL).

I really hope this update/patch comes to us VERY soon. Because the lag makes it almost impossible to play online, and with it being in it's current state I mostly play Campaign or Private Game. (Even though i've beaten both Campaigns/What-If's).

I still find Campaign fun, IDK why so many people complain about it. Especially if you've got 2-3 friends with you, they're a breeeezzzeee. They could've imbedded more "story" ethics into the actual Campaign, but it's slightly fine as is...

Honestly... Said it before, will continue to do so...

Play on Hard - your teammates get smarter.

They're still not up to enemy AI standards, but they're nowhere near as stupid as they are on Easy or Normal.

They aren't even good damage sponges, they just die and find outposts to fail at hacking. They buff you, but when you really need a buff they are never near you or they are too busy looking at a wall (I've seen this happen several times). Maybe they are using the objective wheel, but that shouldn't be used in the middle of combat. There should be at least two friendly AI actively seeking out the main objective and not just running to the main objective but attacking enemy AI and seeking cover. I really wouldn't mind both sides seeking cover so there could be a legitimate fire fight. I also wouldn't mind if heavies were harder to kill, just as long as the friendly AI was by your side fighting with you as long as the ratio of AI body types was even.

Its probably like they want you to do nothing for me. All I do is cover my teammates and they do all of the objectives which lets me be whatever class I want (soldier) and I still get over 20000 exp per match on free play
