Peeking out of cover on the consoles

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:01 pm

If you hold down zoom and then push left or right on the dpad, you character will peek out towards the left or right respectively when you are hiding behind cover. This also works normally without cover as well. (Although I wouldn't know why you would use it when in the open)

Already knew that, but thanks anyways. I don't understand why COD couldn't do that on the consoles, but did it for the PC.

Well it is always good for someone to post it first :).

I just found out after playing with the minigun. ... since I had my zoom held down most of the time to keep the barrel spinning, my fingers wandered off and clicked on the dpad. Voila instant cover system. ... and the AI are dirt stupid when you are firing from cover. They don't even try to hit you.

It says this in the manual.

Although, I guess there are a lot of console gamers who never look at manuals, so it's probably easy enough to miss.

I've never really used it, I find that sliding across a gap makes me a less easy target than leaning into the same gap - at least against bots. Will see if I change my mind when PSN is back up.

What's this manual you speak of? :)

And a lot of PC gamers don't look at manuals either, unless they have the free time or are checking out system specs.

I come from the days when games had manuals which couldn't fit in the disc box.

Actually I come from the days when CD-ROMs didn't exist yet.

Also, I read too much.

I won't ever start a game without some form of inspection of the manual, if it comes with one (*glares pointedly at Ubisoft for failing to provide a printed manual with ACB*)

I came from the days Atari was cool along with reading manuals. I stopped reading them when I realized that I have a lot more fun figuring things out for myself :).

i've tried to fire while peeking once or twice - and i get killed just as fast as strafing - only difference is while strafing i can get fully behind cover faster than leaning back from peeking :P (my arm must have been sticking out or something)
peeking = headshot? ^^;

It works on bots if you just barely creep out.

Took me a bit to manage to throw my first grenade this way though, as I kept pressing something wrong and landing the thing in my lap everytime.

It says this in the manual.

I've never really used it.

I read the manual and have been using lean constantly since day one. It's very useful for avoiding getting shot. Peak out as little as possible.
