Azure Palace Mod

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 9:41 am

Hello, I'm an old member who completely drained the life out of oblivion on the 360. I recently bought the game for PC and tried to install my first mod. The Azure Palace seen below . From what I can tell it's a great mod. But as I was exploring it I found many giant yellow diamonds with exclamation points in them. I figured it was a texturing problem so I installed the other texturing mod in the links. That did not help at all. I will continue to search and tinker with it but if anyone knows my problem feel free to help.

Sorry if I did something against the rules, it has been awhile and im not up to complete speed.

Thanks,
Witness

Ah! New to mods? Here's the primer.

1) Always read the readme. Pay extra careful attention to any section that says "installation", "deinstallation", "requirements", "conflicts / incompatibilities", or "known issues".

2) Always read the readme.

3) Read the stickies at the top of the forum. They have a lot of helpful hints, and can prepare you to identify a number of common problems as they occur.

4) If your mod setup reaches any level of complication, you will need to learn to use tools like Wrye Bash and Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM). They also have some features that can be very helpful in managing simple mod setups, once you know how to use them.

Based on what you've described and the readme of that mod, here are some likely sources of the problem.

Do you have Oblivion fully patched and Shivering Isles installed? These are listed in the requirements.

If the above is not the problem, then most likely you have an Archive Invalidation issue. This happens when the Oblivion engine forgets or refuses to load textures for some weird reason. This is a solved problem, though; search for "Oblivion archive invalidation" and follow one of the fixes.

Both of these things are mentioned in the readme; if you want to use mods, in general you'll need to read and find these issues for yourself.

Happy gaming!

I have Oblivion Mod Manager and I everytime I ran the conflict test no problems showed up. I think it may be a patch issue, I just got the game so I have no clue what patch it has on.

Thanks for the help,
Witness

EDIT: Upon further review I discovered I have 1.2.(whatever the rest is). From what I've read that is the latest patch so that's not the problems

If you have only one mod installed, it's definitely not a conflict problem; a "conflict" producing the bug you described is pretty unlikely anyways. More likely it is, as I said, archive invalidation. OBMM includes a fix for this; a quick search should find instructions.

Here's the http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=bsas_and_archive_invalidation on archive invalidation at Tomlong's site. Check out the site in general, too, as it's very informative indeed.

Otherwise, or as well, check the pinned threads at the top of this forum (e.g., Mods FAQ, etc.) :)
