I hope so. I do very much like the idea of trekking through a dark cave or deep forest at night, lantern in one hand and weapon in the other.
I could believe that if it was just the candle sticks and ones in the bowls, but the fact that there are lanterns with handles to me means they are usable. The one in bowls just like in Morrowind will not be usable though, but candle stick and lanterns should be.

Very optimistic logic there lol. If only thats how things worked in computer games...

I'd say from a game design standpoint it would be illogical to add them in. As a designer you want to limit the jarring effect of not being able to interact with something since obviously not all things are going to be intractable, so adding in an object that has a piece to it that is built specifically for interaction (the handle) would be illogical design wise. They could of otherwise just left out lanterns and stuck purely with candles.
Like everything else with Skyrim, I am cautiously optimistic. I blew up the pic as much as I could..... I think it’s some of candle holder lantern, it does appear to have a handle shape loop on the top..... guess we’ll find out for real on 11/11/11
There does appear to be 2 horn oil lamps / horn candle holder next to the wall on a fixture. I can already picture myself walking over there and picking one of them up.
Edit, sorry a bit of topic but... that statue in the back of the room. Look at the shape of the head and the eye location on the reptilian creature..... that looks way more like a snake then the dragons we have been given pics of.
Does that really prov e that they can be carried and used?
Indeed, while these lanterns do look like they can be carried, that doesn't automatically prove anything, it doesn't really prove that you can carry them unless you actually see someone carry them, until then, I'll take the same stance on this matter as I do when people claim that any screenshots we've seen "confirm" seperate pauldrons.
