OBMM New Conflict Detector detects a conflict!

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 7:51 pm

Hi. I've been using a couple mods, right now just Stutter Remover and Darnified UI 1.3.2.

I also have the GOTY so Knights of the Nine is installed. Also, back when it was free, I downloaded Battlehorn Castle.

I just clicked (to make sure. I haven't actually had any problems) "New Conflict Detector" on the Oblivion Mod Manager. Note that I also have OBSE, because I believe a mod needed it.

It shows in red, Knights.esp and DLCBattlehornCastle.esp.

After clicking many little crosses that said "Record Group" on Knights, I found 4 "Placed Object" Records that say "Overrides entry in Oblivion.esm" and "Conflicts with DLCBattlehornCastle.esp".

Is this anything to worry about?

There is nothing to be alarm about, because the two mods has actually the same timestamp (Wrye Bash mods tab). However you should run http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1167297-rel-boss-better-oblivion-sorting-software/ and rebuild bashed patch in http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1171625-relz-wrye-bash-thread-61/ to correct these two DLC. :)

I don't have Wrye Bash... should I get it?

EDIT: And BOSS too? Should I get that as well?

EDIT Numba 2: I downloaded, installed and ran BOSS and this is what it said:
Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH:Actors.AIPackages,Factions}}

What the devil does that mean?!

Yes you should get both of them, because if you're using mods these tools is essential to any mod user and http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/ can you read more about a modded Oblivion (use the http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=site_settings first). :read:

The OBMM conflict detector is pretty much completely useless, don't spend too much time worrying about that. BOSS is extremely useful for setting the right load order.

As I mentioned in one of you other threads, Wrye Bash is not completely necessary if you are only planning on using a few mods, but it is a very useful tool and becomes essential if you are going to be using a lot of mods. Besides the Bashed Patch feature, it can also make mod installation simpler, but you'll have to do some reading to make the most of it. You can ignore the Bashed Tag suggestions, they are used by Wrye Bash when rebuilding a Bashed Patch.

Maybe you're right. I downloaded Wrye Python and installed it, but Wrye Bash still says I don't have all the Python addons. Maybe I'll just wait until I figure I'm going to have quite a few mods or something.

When should you install it? When you have 10 mods? 20? 100?

Just download http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 and Wrye Bash 291 Installer. That should fix it with Wrye Bash. :)

Ah, thanks. I didn't even realize it was under Files on the Wrye Bash page.

I'll install it even though I'm basically playing Oblivion (with UI and Stutter Remover). I'll beat it with my character, and then get to making new characters who play with mods.

Good plan. It's usually best to play Oblivion at least once without mods so that you have an idea of what you don't like about it. Besides, it's a rite of passage
