New Transformation? and Children?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 11:33 pm

The transformation thing sounds quite interesting. I would lose some respect for Beth if they included silly things such as were-chickens. Were-bears and boars and wolves sound like something serious. I hope there's an epic transformation cutscene!

As for the children, I don't know what to hope for, but I just want it to be realistic.

Discussion of harming children is kinda an iffy subject-recently I've seen it being done to some extent in a semi-reasonable manner without moderator action (in the "unkillable NPCs" thread). I think it's best to avoid heated arguments or trolling in regards to the subject obviously or graphic descriptions of what some players might for whatever reason want to be able to do to children.

Why is that? Why is attacking, blasting or flaying children any different than doing the same to women, for example?

edit: I haven't been on the forums for a fair bit so I must have missed something.

Children should be handled like the girl Sapling Yew in Oasis, Fallout 3. If all the residents were killed or attacked she disappeared in the trees and was removed from the game. It seemed more realistic so that way there wouldn't be this little girl all by her self in a Post-Apocalyptic,mutated forest!!!

I was thinking that it could be handled in game. NPCs should just gang up and give you a beat down for doing it.

In previous games you could become a werewolf or a vampire, so do you think they would make a new transformation or incorporate the two? I think the Skyrim setting would be perfect for werewolves! Though if they were to incorporate the two, $5 says there's a Twilight spoof/reference. LMAO lets hope not
Weredragon would be awesome maybe as one of the 20 shout powers.

I am going to remind everyone again that the discussion of harming children is a prohibited subject here. It seems that despite a previous advice from a moderator the subject still is being discussed. We will have to start warning and suspending those members who do not heed this advice.

Plus - I want werebears in the game. :D

And what if this is made possible in game? Even if it only goes so far as knocking them out with the pommel of a sword. As a serious question, because killing children was possible in FO2 if I remember correctly, although this was not a bethesda game.

Incorporate the two like you can become a werevampire? That just sounds crazy.

I'd like to become a were-slaughterfish and have to live out the rest of my days attacking anything that falls into Skyrim's icy waterways. Where do you guys come up with this stuff?

I'd play as a fisherman... or at least I played as a fisherman until one of those were-slaughterfish damn near took my leg off... I was collecting scales for this young alchemist...

It would break my immersion more to have invulnerable children in the game.

Please, please, please let were-chickens be in! If we don't get were-chickens granting +50 to all skills and the almighty "Deathcluck" ability I am so done with TES.

Don't need were-chickens when I can summon Ultra-mega chicken. "Arise, Chicken! Arise!"

Its a no win situation. You bring them into the game and they are protected (there must be some sort of protection to keep game rating lower), or you leave them out. Either way someone will whinge. The people should send the children up against the end boss as they are all invincible. There is no need for the dragonborn. Have I broken immersion yet.

And I still don't get why this is. If you don't plan on hurting them it won't effect anything in your play experience. If they implement it where they run away and hide if you draw your sword they'll still technically be invulnerable but you won't even get a chance to hurt them so THAT won't effect anything in your play experience. You can easily pretend that they're NOT invulnerable or set aside your knowledge that they are-it's just a GAME MECHANIC-does the fact that you have to press a button to swing your sword also break immersion?

@Infiltrator
It's because Skyrim is a mainstream video game available on consoles and Bethesda wants to avoid the inevitable moral outrage that would occur if their game allowed you to do that sort of thing. Fallout 2 could do it only because it was a PC-only game and PC games weren't mainstream back then (they still aren't, aside from some MMOs like World of Warcraft).

Getting back into the subject of werecreatures it'd be nice to see more types of werecreatures-or perhaps including the ability to add new werecreatures and such through the new Creation Kit.

I like children in games, they instill emotion in me. For instance, my favorite random quest from Fallout 3 was finding the orphan in the fire-ant town. I found myself returning to Rivet City to check up on him after the quest, even though no new dialogue trees would be up. I hope kids pop up more in quests.
