Is skyrim being simplified to much?

If, upon leaving the game prologue (prisoner escapes) and we have no perks means both Mr. Terror who is going to use the sword and Mitzy the Barmaid who has never held one are just as smart s each other, just as agile, just as intelligent, etc. I'm not saying the same result cannot be reached but it is painting people with the exact same brush leaving out all sense. A line from the Incredibles went like - if everone is exceptional - no one is. One cannot play as an einstein who learns magic as einstein doesn't exist - hes just as smart as theguy in the next cell who was the garbage collector in town and was thrown in prison because he stole something.

How is this at all different from the past games? Besides, you're only talking about the beginning of the game too. If anything the perks go against the point you're trying to make. Since the unmodded game limits you to fifty perks, characters will be far more different at level 50 than they would be in Oblivion or Morrowind.

well actually those combat monunvers did exist in OB, and you gained acess to them by leveling those skills up. and plenty of people thought they were useful, you don't have to agree to that, but its an error to cut something because some people thought they were useless, and if they were lacking uses, make uses for them, it adds more to the game.

They are probably now perks. I think the benefits you received with a high attribute will become perks which you choose on a level up. I am assuming that better perks will rely upon your level as well as previous perk you have chosen.

I imagine if they were removing attributes and doing nothing to replace them they would be dumbing things down. I see it as fixing something that didn't make a whole lot of sense. How could a mortal being start life with physical and mental attributes near the bottom of the scale and by doing repetitive actions bring them to the level of the gods. Sure a slight increase in these attributes would make sense but gaining five points a level just because you cast conjurations in a corner while you ran in place jumping for an hour just doesn't really seem right.

Since they are changing things rather than just dumping them I think they are doing their best to give us more, not less.
