I think you're still missing the fact that you never have to do the MQ in TES games.

Just as being the Nerevarine wasn't a choice in Morrowind, and being the unlikely person the Emperor gave the Amulet of Kings to wasn't a choice in Oblivion, you have no choice to be Dragonborn or not in Skyrim.

However, just like the afore mentioned games, if you don't want to fulfill your duty as Dragonborn you don't have to. Just go through the game normally until the world opens up and ignore the MQ for a while. That's what I'll do.

I'd assume that just like you didn't have to worry about Oblivion gates in Oblivion until a certain point in the MQ, you probably won't have to worry about dragons until a certain point in the MQ in Skyrim. I mean, you can't fight them until you learn some dragon shouts, right?

I don't give a crap what Howard said. All past use of the word Dragonborn uses it as a sort of positional description, something that someone gains or earns in a way. You're telling me the Neravarine, who was described as Dragonborn, had the soul of a dragon? Despite having the soul of Lord Nerevar instead? That's a crock.

in morrowind no matter what you are the neravirine . its just whether or not you do the main quest and find it out. it will be the same way in skyrim. you are the dovahkiin its just whether or not you progress at all in the main quest that makes you and all of skyrim aware of it. meaning in any elder scrolls game the main quest is completely optional. so feel free to toast a marshmellow over a village being burned to the ground by a dragon or even fight them theyr just creatures after all

Yes I can role play the simple goat herder and never leave my village but I am still the dragonborn.
