[WIPz] Ravensgate

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:01 pm

UPDATE: This is currently on hold - I'm waiting to see what happens with the heightmap. Since there's a possibility of the name changing, I'll probably just wait for a stable release of the merged heightmaps, or if that doesn't look like it'll happen come end of October or so, I may just continue with the current one. Most of the castle itself is done, the town is laid out but that's about it so far.

FANTASTIC NEWS!!! Onra has completed his base heightmap (see thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1117684-tamriel-worldspace-modding-project/page__st__160__gopid__16647203&#entry16647203), so now I plan on getting back to work on Ravensgate! It may take a couple more months, but I'll have a solid two weeks off work for the Christmas break, so that will be an excellent time to dig in. Hopefully we're looking at an early 2011 release, but I'll give a more specific release date once I've got back into the modding.

Haven't forgotten about this - just taking longer than I expected to get the town laid out. I've already started over four times :brokencomputer:

Well, I really hate to do this, but given the extended time this is taking I think I'm gonna have to scale down the mod somewhat. If it weren't for the impending release of TESV I would continue to give it the time I it deserves, but unfortunately it's a forgone conclusion that the modding community will be obsessed with the new game when it comes out (myself included).

So, what I plan on doing is paring down the more advanced features of the mod such as the quests and scripted events. The release of the mod will still contain the castle/home and the town of Ravensgate, with maybe a few basic quests thrown in surrounding the castle and its secrets. Hopefully later down the line I can release an update which adds the more advanced stuff.

At any rate, due to HDD issues I am forced to go back to an earlier version so I am redoing the castle design to make it easier to navigate. During my testing, I found that I was having to run around a lot to get places, which is a complaint I've had about other large home mods. So basically I'm redoing the castle exterior & interior somewhat, finishing up the town, then releasing it as a beta - hopefully late summer or so.

Updated screenshots will be posted as soon as I can.
