Skyrim becoming COD?

Post » Mon May 02, 2011 10:50 pm

  • Skyrim has runes you can place on the floor (basically a claymore (landmine))
  • Skyrim now has PERKS, yeah I wonder where they came from...
  • Players can now sprint across the map, as primarily used in COD and by judging the gameplay trailer the camera bob even looks the same as COD's
  • As mentioned above Skyrim now has one hit kill bows and zoom in (basically a rifle with a sight mounted)
  • The graphics look very equal to Black Ops, not the same engine but look very similar...
  • You can equip weapons with enchantments (like extra damage from fire which is essentially FMJ in COD games)

Thank you for reading and please vote in my poll if you too see skyrim the same way I do (even if you didn't before)

-runes in many fantasy games, cod didn't invent claymores
-perks came from fallout 3
-sprinting is replacing atheletics atribute
-bow idea came from a mod on oblivion
-graphics far better than cod black ops
-enchantments were in TES before the very 1st cod

so, TES is not becoming COD :tes:

Another super biased poll.

I vote no. No qualifiers. No snarky allusions. Just no!

I wonder how many of the features of that series were taken from games that have come before them.

You do realise how pathetic your op is.

Perks are from bethesdas last game fallout 3
We could zoom in on bows in oblivion
How are the graphics comparable, black ops has awful graphics.

You just fail in every way.

come on guys, there's no need to MOCK me here, this is my first post and no one has posted it before so without getting off topic please discuss. I've already mentioned my valid reasons and now I'd like to hear your support (or in some cases unsupport) but please don't mock me...

Just trying to make the forum more chatty about things which aren't the same over and over and over and over again :/

It is a bit harsh that they are calling you a troll but I think the reason that no one has posted it before is because it just isn't true, especially since there aren't really any similarities whatsoever. I think it's just a dead topic right out of the gate and it's just going to turn into a flame war. If I was you I would ask a mod to close it before warnings start getting thrown out.

oh my days im just trying to make a nice thread, stop calling me a "troll" (and yes i have googled it and i know what it means before you mock me about that too)if you don't want to hear my opinions and thoughts then just kick me off your forum :/

Okay, I apologise for harshness, since you're new, welcome to the forums. Though your comparisons are seriously loose. Like really. Skyrim is not copying COD.

Cod are confirmed. They can be glimpsed jumping upstream in Skyrim's rivers; a small but appreciated detail in an immersive fantasy landscape.

Those are salmon.

What the heck is going on with these forums!?

Sorry, but seriously? This is nothing short of ridiculous! A fine example of grasping at straws indeed.
I'm kind of losing what little hope I had for humanity.

Since you may speak the truth and you're really a new member with good intentions:
Everything you said was there before COD. COD hasn't invented those features.

And you can't compare two games because they have the same features.
Every human can sprint, so for the sake of realism and gameplay, why not implement it?
The gameplay can be totally different though.

Sorry, sir. No fun in this thread, sir. Moving along, sir.

Edit: Aww hell, I'll bite. I do admit that it seems that Skyrim is becoming more action oriented, and moving away from the spreadsheet, circlejerk of stats and attributes that was previous Elder Scrolls games. If that constitutes become more "COD-ish", then it's not necessarily a bad thing. Too much action, however, and too little roleplaying would be bad for the series. If the game is going to be more action-oriented, I hope bethesda find a nice balance.
