Sentimentality

:lmao:

I can only laugh at the collection of individuals here harping on the thoughts of others, calling people close minded and resistant to change as if either or are inherently bad or good traits, Both sides have given sweeping arguments as to why and why not, its only the people with the "blinders" on as one forum used as an insult who think the other is at fault for thinking a certain way. since when is moving forward instantly a good thing? Do you drive into your house if your car rear is facing the street when your trying to leave?

Its not Nostalgia if people are still playing games of the past to this day, its not like they can't compare games and see "oh **** something isnt adding up here" and this whole attribute thing is NOTHING new, we saw this coming in the beginning of this year, its only now being confirmed....

get the hell over yourselves and stop posting irrelevant topics in the Skyrim section to feel good about yourselves you want to chat and demonize a certain group go do it in the Comm discussion frankly Im tired of people with Seperation syndrom as if one TES fan is lesser than another, in case you didnt notice every TES game is preceeded by TES there is no such thing as Morrowind fans or Oblivion fans, and quite frank this Forum is well off without going back to the early morrrowind mentality phase.

Thread Reported, this is essentially a complainer about complainer thread.

at least not quote the entire post... and you saying it doesn't make it so :P

This is a thread about Nostalgia and the effect it might have on our experience with Skyrim. When I posted it, I did not even have any of the latest developments or threads (or posters) in mind. While this thinking might have been prompted by the current debate it is not supposed to be a commentary upon it in any way. This is a standalone thought with observations and a call for discussion with those who experienced a similar phenomenon.

Pointing out a phenomenon of nostalgia and how it shapes our thoughts is not an attack.

If you have nothing useful to contribute other than spam and complaints, you will get this thread locked... but it will be your fault entirely. Please stay on topic... if you are capable of it.

You are not the target of that post, no one is, I just feel I missed the memo were genuinely enjoying a game and expecting its sequels to blow it completely and utterly out the water was a bad thing and recognizing that aspects of the series that made it truely unique were shaved. so one can't help BUT feel "nostalgic" for past games, there essentially are no perfect TES's but expecting better and getting less isn't something one should be subjected to as far as GAMES are concerned, not Life...Life....is aweosme.

That's the thing. I don't think we are getting less. I understand that you think otherwise, and that's fine.

I hope you enjoy Skyrim more than what you think you will now. :)

Never since Skyrims announcement have I said Skyrim will svck or I wont enjoy it / buy it. I did however say we're losing options and their replacements svck / unwarrented, but thats not what this thread is about now is it. I haven't stopped "enjoying" Oblivion or morrowind currently and the mods are more responsible for this than anything really, in my case I rather not have to rely on mods like I did for Oblivion so that it would have an increased play life and decreased shelf life.

but of course thats my opinion.

This is not what this thread is supposed to be about... if you want to talk about features... talk about it in a feature thread >_>
