New Playable Races?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 12:48 am

This. It's been this way for all 4 versions of TES and lore has stated that only 10 races inhabit Tamriel. Besides it's already been confirmed that all 10 races are returning,

This is actually counter to the truth. The truth is, it would complicate the game in story and possibly mechanics to add more races. It would make perfect sense within the lore, because there are other known races in Nirn aside from the ten that appear, and that is before you even commence dealings with the various races of immortal Daedra, who often find ways into Nirn despite all the injucntions against them. The Lore strongly supports more races. . . the devs probably do not. :brokencomputer:

I'd like to see a race comprised entirely of black people. Wouldn't that be something else?
Either a joke, or you only played Oblivion.

No more extra races in Skyrim...

Perhaps hybrids?

All 4? Like Arena and Daggerfall each of which only had 8 races? We didn't get up to 10 until Morrowind. :P

This is a moot point. It has already been stated that the classic ten races are returning.

None for Skyrim but for a game set in Southern Tamriel, I would like to see the Maormer appear, perhaps some of them immigranting to the continent.

Nope. It's perfect as it is, with the 10 races.

Or, maybe, how about: Mudcrabmen!!11one

Edit: Actually, it would be pretty sweet if there would be a hidden ancient settlement of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Falmer in Skyrim. - but not as a playable race.

The only races that would fit would be the Akavir races, who are tied to dragons after all. Akavir means Dragon lands:) Kamal, Tsaesci, Tang Mo, and Ka Po' Tun.

With the game being all about dragons seeing these races at least as NPC's in some capacity would seem to fit. Hell the Black dragons were said to be allies of the Ka Po' Tun(kind of like kahjit), with the reds being enslaved by the Tsaesci,(Snake people, with vampire powers)

I was happy with the addition of orcs and imperials in Morrowind. Since then, I never felt the need for any other race. There are some smaller, less mentioned races that I think would be fun to play. But those races are usually very specific to the province they are native to and rarely found outside of them.

Its not lore friendly to add more playable races.

Well...Maormer or Falmer could still be around.

the dwarf race maybe, or minatour race that's friendly.

Dwarfs (Dwemer) = vanished
Minotaurs = mindless creatures

Not lore friendly, really.

Most people probably think Dwemer = Dwarf = classic short warrior guys.

It reminds me of the influx of new fans who came in expecting to be able to play half dragon races and stuff.

I'm not saying i'm 100% against new races but at least know you'r lore and try to pick a credible race like the Akavari ape men or snake people. It's far fetched but not as bad as OMG HALF DRAGON ELF PRINCESS XD.

I don't think that there should be more playable races but it might be good to come across some Sea Elves (or other race that fits in the lore) now and again as part of a mission or something. Like the dwarf in Morrowind whose name I forget.

Luke Skyrimmer said...'Keep making the current 10 more unique I say.'

Also this.

1.The races are lore friendly.
2.It's 10 races. You don't see 10 races in MANY RPGs (Not talking 'bout MMOs).
3.This isn't An MMO. No need to add races in every part/expansion!

do you think there should be more playable races than there were in oblivion? give your thoughts on this. if so what races do you want to be able to play as in TES: Skyrim? should there be more, less or the same amount? :tes:

The ONLY 1 race I could see in the future would be the snakemen of Akavir. Only them. Why? They have been on Tamriel before, and ruled the first 400ish years of the second era, after the assassination of Reman III. Of what is known, they're fighting a losing war against the tiger people, who are also allied with the monkey people. If things become dire for the snakes, it is possible they may flee to Tamriel as a refugee race.

Everyone else is openly hostile, gone, or way too small of a population to be another valid race.
