Are you going to do everything possible with one character?

In Oblivion, I did EVERYTHING with one character (mage, magic is the shizzle)

I didn't really have a reason to make more characters. I didn't feel like doing the same things over again, so I just did everything with one character.

-Got all my skills to Master
-Completed all factions
-Did all the quests I could find

I never really wanted to create a new character, because I could do everything with one character. I could be a heavy armor fighter, a sneaky theif, or a badass mage. Sure, certain skills were a little low compared to others, but I still didn't see the point of making a new character. I could do all the factions, quests, everything. The only reason I would every start a new character, would be to change my race and birthsign, which I never felt the need to.

I just hope they limit this in Skyrim. Kind of how you were only able to join one house in MW, so I would have a reason to make new characters.

I did it in Oblivion, but I won't in Skyrim.

i agree. being able to master everything and become the leader of every guild is stupid game design.

I'd rather call it open/free game design. Once you take away the ability to do everything some people will have a meltdown like they're doing with attributes/birth sign being removed.

Never did that in Oblivion.

But, then, "everything possible" to me includes things like playing other races, choosing other playstyles (maxing all your skills so that you can use any of them isn't the same thing as going through the early & mid levels using a different skillset than on another character), etc. So, for me, it was literally impossible to "do everything" in one play of Oblivion. Or even five plays.

(And certainly, in the Skyrim system with you picking a max of 50 perks out of 250+, you may be able to get all your skills to = 100, but that won't nearly be the same as having the all the perks. Again, impossible to do "everything".)

I won't complete the quests of every factions but I will try to use as many combat styles possible (melee, magic, marksman)

SPOILER IF YOU HAVENT DONE THE MAGES GUILD STORYLINE IN OBLIVION

In morrowind, I am only in the Mage's guild but in oblivion, I feel I HAVE to do everything becuase the lore kinda "depends" on it. What I mean is like if you don't join the Mage's guild, Mannamarco (spelling?) is still alive and well to me, but in lore it says "3E 433 — Death of Mannimarco

Mannimarco, "The King of Worms", falls in a duel against the Mages Guild's newest archmage in the Jerall Mountains, with the help of the previous archmage, Hannibal Traven

"Are you going to do everything possible with one character?" Not everything will be possible with one character, there will be more perks than possible levels even though there is no level cap.

The first time through, yes, I most likely will do everything I can with one character just to get a feel for everything and learn how things work. Then, I'll make new characters designed specifically for different avenues.

New archmage could be another person instead of CoC.

I tend to like pure type classes, normally having my warrior char use only melee skills, mage using only arcane skills and my assassin character with stealth, marksmanship and a single melee skill.

Although we will have a classless system, I`ll still use only the skills i feel fit my type of character. My Mage won`t use melee weapons, only magic etc.

Unfortunately my Warrior will no doubt have to use the Dragon Shouts and will not be an arcane power- free character. I`ve never really liked playing the Battlemage type.

So, no, I won`t try to master all with a single character. Instead i will experiment further in the game with different characters, no matter how long between builds.

UESP is also not the best place to go for lore. Terms like "the Champion of Cyrodiil" are used just as a means to name the player-character in Oblivion, and I highly doubt any future games will make any acknowledgement of the Arch-Mage, Listener, Gray Fox, Grand Champion, and Fighters Guid leader were all the same person. If you want it to all be the same person, that's fine, but it certainly doesn't have to be.

I never completed everything with one character in Morrowind or Oblivion. I doubt I will complete everything in Skyrim, but who knows.

Nah, I won't. I don't like it when my character is i.e. the head of all guilds and orders in the entire game, it just seems stupid. That's also why I hope there will be rivaling guilds where joining one excludes the other.

No, and I didn't in Oblivion either. I'll make at least 3 characters.

1. Warrior
2. Assassin/Thief (I may separate these)
3. Mage
