This is all fantastic

They'll all look nearly identical. Good graphics cards will end up pushing the slight edge to the PC, while the 360 and PS3 versions will be nearly identical. I'd guess if there was any edge in consoles it would go to the 360, but who knows. It won't be big enough a difference to matter.
You want to see a real difference? Ditch the CRT's and crappy TV's and buy a good 36+ inch HDTV. It's a game changer.

Before this thread gets closed, let me just say that Bethesda probably just happened to pick the 360 for this specific round of coverage. It most likely has nothing to do with the quality of the other two versions. I'm sure PC/PS3 stuff will show up in the future before the game launches.

As usual, the PC version will look better than both the PS3 and 360, which will be nearly matched graphically (the PS3 only looks significantly better when the devs are dedicated to it alone. I don't remember exactly why; something about it being layed-out significantly differently in terms of video memory or some such. Not hating).

I'm just thankful and amazed that the 360 version looks that damn beautiful. It's astounding, really. They should all look great :) And even if the PC version doesn't go as far as it could, there's always the modding community to do whatever-the-[censored] they deem worthy of their time.

Seriously, the PC modding community has made Bethesda's games into masterpieces, fine tuned to every person's preferences, pouring hours of free time into it and giving the product insane longevity (I know that doesn't really translate into much more money for Beth). Could Todd not be so 360 crazy and at least knowledge the existence of the people whose work and ideas on the predecessor have been turned into features in Skyrim itself?

I think it's safe to bet that the PS3 graphics will be equivalent or ever so slightly better than what we've seen so far. If you look at any of the multiple side by side graphics comparisons on the internets for other games, you should have a good idea of what to expect.

Or just wait until they show some PS3 footage. But, yeah, PS3 should be just as good as what we've seen.

I think you are kidding yourself. Unfortunately, I am saying that as a PS3 only gamer. Let me ask you this, how many times has a multiplatform game been developed where the devs only showed 360 shots during development? Quite a bit right? And how many times have those same multiplatform games been slightly inferior on the PS3 (mainly in framerate or other areas)? Almost always right? Finally, ask yourself this: If the game looked better on PS3, why the hell WOULD'NT they be showing it? And if it looked equal to the 360, shouldn't the released shots be 50/50? Not trying to be negative here, but the history is there, and the facts speak for themselves....

I read the IGN article, saw some new pictures, and am absolutely, positively ecstatic for Skyrim, but there's one thing that I still am dying to know. According the IGN article, Bethesda still has only shown anything pertaining to the 360 version. My problem with that is that I will not be playing the 360 version. I want to get a few screenshots and/or some in-game footage of the PS3 version and, out of curiousity, the PC version, as well. All I want is for the PS3 version to look as good as and perform as well as the 360 version (which I think looks amazing, by the way) and I'm worried that it may not. So, when do you believe we may some some screenshots/footage of the non-360 versions, why hasn't Bethesda shown such things already (I don't get it, what do they have to lose by doing so?), and do you think my fears are just the overly paranoid, irrational fears of a Skyrim fanatic (In other words, please help lay my fears to rest if you believe they are unfounded for and my own version will be just as good as the 360 version... or not, if you believe I do have reason to be worried)?

It was said in the Game Informer interviews a while back that it's easiest to just bung an Xbox 360 hard drive into a suitcase and take it to where it needs to go, than to bring a whole PS3 or PC, which will take up more room, and for the latter, take a lot longer to set up. I'm sure it will look fairly similar on the PS3. Slightly better on the PC, due to AA if nothing else.

Seti, you're seeing screens from the 360 because Skyrim is a 360 game, and it's being PORTED to the PC and PS3. I'm sorry that a lot of people don't want to hear that, but it's the truth. It's being designed on the 360.
I wouldn't call the 360 the "main" focus, but it's being designed on the 360 with the 360 in mind. There was a quote from Todd or Pete, I can't remember which, stating this. It was a while back. In February maybe.
Plus, it's just easier. They have all of this stuff readily available, no need to "scramble" to find other screens of other platforms.
Rest assured, you'll probably see PC and PS3 sceenshots before release.

I do agree. And I'm hoping that the PS3 version ill look slightly better than the 360. I mean it is more powerful so it should...

Unfortunately the majority of people that buy the game aren't on the forums (I think...atleast a big portion isn't :P ).

Actually this statement is not true as to there being more people playing games and buying games for pc,.... the xbox 360 does more game sales then pc and it also beats out playstation in sales here in the states, the pc reason for you pc snobs is most people do not have high end gaming machines anyway and most households have both pc and consoles like my own but the pc is not the gaming machine of choice unless you have money for constant upgrading and is less comfortable to play at then say your average 360 is and playstation is beat out because it is much more expensive then the xbox 360 and graphically not much better ( no matter what yall say I have all three in my home and I have to say I prefer my xbox 360 for gaming anyday. It will probably be PC>360>PS3. I say that because that's how it always is. I bet 360 and Ps3 will be real close though.

Initially, nope. All 3 games will look the same.
But, as mods come out, texture replacers, graphic enhancers, it will go like this:
PC>360 =|= PS3

i have a 360 and a ps3 and now a decent laptop that i hope will run skyrim (as well as it does fallout and oblivion)

i buy the 360 version of every multi-platform game because they always look and run better on that console
seriously its a fact (however, ps3 exclusives are mind boggling and often better than all 360 games = an opinion)

my concern right now is that the 360 stopped reading disks and microsoft wants 180$ canadian to fix it
and since theres no way im paying such an insane amount of money, my 360 days are over

i didnt play fallout 3 on the ps3 but from what ive heard its very similar, so this gives me hope

i believe, that Skyrim will run 2nd best and look the 2nd best... The PC will have 1st thought.... My main problem with Bethesda, is that they release Exclusive content for 360 users.... I believe, Beth would make more money if they didn't accept bribes from Microsoft...

I have both systems and will be playing on the 360 for the controller and achievments(I am not into the trophies)

Oblivion looked BETTER on the PS3 no question about it with the PC being king.

But most games that are multiplatform between the PS3 and Xbox look better on the 360. I have seen them all and the only games that broke this trend was FF13 and Oblivion.

So I am thinking the PS3 may look sharper again but who knows since they are both coming out the same time(Oblivion on the ps3 had a year to clean things up)

Either way the game is going to look amazing.

PC will look hands down better but I just HATE playing games on the PC.

But in all honesty, most people buy games on consoles. I remember reading somewhere how F:NV was bought like 300k copies on PC, but like 1400k on consoles together or something.

That likely doesn't include Steam sales, as Valve doesn't release sales numbers. Considering how big Steam is, and how FONV even required Steam, I'd say any such numbers are vastly misrepresenting PC game sales.

I already have an HDTV. Is this edge that the 360 gets with most multiplatform games really ever noticeable?

It saddens me, but it's probably being developed for 360 and then ported to PC and PS3.

Ok guys the main reason for the Xbox being shown is because that is the most current build. In game dev you need to complete a series of loops and prototypes to make sure the game plays the way you imagined it. To do this you use the tool you are most comfy with because it's the quickest way and time constraints are a fact of life. The team at Beth has stated that this is the Xbox SDK. The Xbox SDK is the most user friendly development kit. Sony's one is a bit of pain. In fact a lot of articles have been written about that subject. Soooo that is why you are seeing the Xbox stuff, the latest stuff.

PC will look incredible we all know that. I actually like seeing the Xbox screens because it looks good and i can go "wow that is going to look 2x better on my rig, sweeet". PS3 will look just as good as Xbox, Beth didn't jip you guys before and actually dedicated 6months to get it right. They don't need to do that this time so don't fret.

There are two problems with that. One, I don't really want to use a 360 controller. I'm perfectly comfortable with PS3 controllers and even mouses and keyboards, but the 360 controller is just alien, to me. Two, my PC would cry tears of pain and melt if I even put Oblivion into it. The PS3 is my current main platform and the platform I will be playing Skyrim, for better or for worse... and I hope it's not for worse.

So, I just watched a video in which Todd stated the console versions would be the same, graphically. That puts one of my fears to rest, but does anyone know if Todd mentioned anything about them performing similarly?

In a battle of raw stats, the PS3 is the better console, and this is coming from someone who does 98% of his gaming on Xbox360. Anything that can handle, the PS3 can handle. I mean, look at the graphical comparisons on any game almost that released on both. Call of Duty from MW2 on, Mass Effect 2 (in fact, ME2 has a different engine on PS3 from what I understand, and it's better than the Xbox version's), Oblivion on Xbox had Bloom, whereas PS3 had full HDR, even. The PS3 wins hands down in a hardware fight.

I wouldn't worry too much at all, my friend. Your PS3 will be able to handle it and then some, I'm sure. =)

EDIT: Side note, I mainly use Xbox for its titles. PS3 only has one exclusive I'm interested in, but Xbox has at least four. In case anyone wondered, lol.

EDIT2: I just hope they don't pull what they did with Oblivion and Fallout 3 as far as DLC. So unfair that you've gotta wait to get what the Xbox and PC got two months ago or whatever.

I'm not too worried about my own platform (PC), I do however have concern if Microsoft will bribe their way into pissing me off, 'tis bad enough when companies flat out don't release games I want for pc, or heaven forbid much later *glares at lionheart and rockstar*.
