How will dragons use dragon shouts?

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 7:33 am

In the video on http://www.g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/64714/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim/articles/74266/the-elder-scrolls-5-first-look-preview-part-1-welcome-to-skyrim, Todd describes the battles with dragons as "dragon debates" (AWESOME!), with dragonshouts coming from both sides. My question is do you think dragons will/should just let out a rawr at the player which unleashes the dragonshout, or should they too speak the words in their own dragon-y voice? I think it would be awesome in a battle to hear dragons screaming "FUS ROH DAH" and such, because it would remind you of their intelligence, instead of them just inexplicably using their dragon magic just like how those DAMN MURLOCS KNOW HOW TO USE MAGIC AND GUNS AND SWORDS EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE JUST [censored] FISH! :frog: I mean, all the intelligent races spent ages learning the ways of magic and then [censored] MURLOCS have the brains of fish and STILL cast fireballs and [censored]. WHAT THE HELL, MAN?! They don't even speak. They just go "WOOOOBLE DOOOOO" and crap. =/

But anyway, how should dragons perform dragonshouts?

I don't recall any smart animals In the gaming and In real life have the ability to talk besides there own launguage (Dog barking) (Cat purring) Everything talks It's own way. Besides birds in real life.

Dragons have there own Language why not let them use It. Plus all animals are diffrent organ, muscle (Voice box) way.

It has been confirmed that they can talk, some of them even in english.

Also the fire-breath is a dragon shout too (if you listen closely you can hear something, even though it sounds more like when you move a chair).

Different types of dragons will probably use different shouts.

Dragons have been able to speak English (or Tamrielic) since they were added in the lore. In TESA: Redguard, Cyrus has a brief dialogue with the dragon Nafaalilargus.

Also, Murlocs should be in every video game ever.

EDIT: Here's a video of the conversation with a dragon, BIG spoilers for TESA: Redguard, so don't watch it if you don't want to be spoiled on it!

They should perform them the way they've already said they would. They said dragons use abilities through the magic of their language. Thats what its gonna be, so its logical that that means you SHOULD hear them speaking the words. Todd even says that if you listen closely to the trailer, when the dragon spits fire you can hear it speak.

I dont get the point of the thread. Why would you want people's opinions on how they would change something that its already confirmed to be awesome? People's ideas are just going to embellish it and make it lame.

The person you are responding to uses the word talk too loosely. There is a conceptual difference between talking and communicating. So, while parrots do seem to talk and form human words, they are not communicating any meaning. A parrot doesnt know what "get out of my house!" means, no matter how well Ive trained it to say it whenever an ex girlfriend comes by.

I believe Crows are capable of understanding. Considering how frighteningly intelligent they are.

As much as you want to believe dragons are just animals, they're actually very intelligent beings, and are pretty much like angels are to God in the Semitic religions. Also, dragons are pretty much lesser deities in the grand scheme of things. Think Morhaus level. I mean, Morhaus was the son of Hyne, and was a flying and talking bull, who eventually had six with Alessia when the war was over. Though, I would like to point out that Alessia was more up to the idea, while Morhaus wasn't so much and confessed to Pelinal that he was afraid of what would happen if things got serious.
