I don't know about you but you know when you killed a person but you still couldn't sleep in their beds even though there dead, but still they somehow still own it?
Well that might change! And possibly have a house where you want? I know I'm getting ahead of myself but since Todd himself has said that he personally didn't like it and they are possibly looking into it, well that sounds nice. I think of morrowind and dumping all my crap in that annoying Bsmers house after I killed him.

If not well, oh well. But still we might not have those annoying red marked beds after we kill the owner.

If this is possible I'm taking over a nice little shop in a town.

nothing a quick, innocent, ' ~ setownership' couldnt fix. But if your playing on a console (which todd most likely was), it would get annoying.

When I saw the thread title I thought it would be a "No confirmation of red bedsheets!?!?! Canceling pre-order!" type of thread.

Hopefully it's not as easy as an arbitrary home takeover.

In morrowind you just walk into some dudes house and waste him, and then suddenly the house is yours for all intents and purposes. Hopefully the house and possessions gets "passed on" to the next of kin, and if the next of kin are all dead then the house become abandoned.

I hate all knowing guards as much as the next guy...okay, that's a lie. I kinda liked em cause they were fun to mess with...but if I start living in some dudes home, they should investigate. Are warrents needed for guards to come in and look around for bodies?

At any rate, yes to no more red beds!

I would be happy if this happened. I don't mind the Red Beds but if the owner died then he should lose ownership of the bed after 24 hours.

I am happy about the no more red beds but would be more happy if they brought back movable torches/lamps ect,... and no big bag of death that would suddenly appear if you gathered too many items in a house in morrowind lol, and would love it if they brought back the ability to own and operate a ship like we could in daggerfall,.... sorry getting off topic Im outta here

I think if he died he should lose ownership immediatly. I mean, he's dead, he don't own nothin' but his soul.

Indeed :D

I mean, you can't have ownership of something when you are dead, unless it gets passed down to a relative or something, but still. . .

Ah, the best news a pack rat could ever hope to hear. I own most of Balmora on my Morrowind character. I can be very persuasive.

Don't get too excited now. With better AI it's unlikely you'll get away with murdering and squatting in someone's house in a town where the people know said person. being able to sleep in a bed belonging to a dead person is one thing but i sure hope the world isn't oblivious enough to not notice that Phil has gone missing and I'm living in his house.

Then I guess I'll have to kill his neighbor. But then his wife might find out......then its curtains for her. But the stable boy might have saw me strangle the woman with the cutains. Now I'll have to make an accident happen with the prize horse trampling the boy. But the head gaurd saw me by the stables last week......Well now see what AI did to me? They made me into a cereal killer. I only wanted to be a regular murderer!!!

-remember people their just looking into it, its not set in stone. Just no one get mad at the devs(or me) if they get hyped up on trying to sleep in a bed in some citie's castle or something.

I think I need to make sure I understand this - people want to kill people so they can move in. seems perfectly reasonable and all but I was just interested in confirming that you don't live near me.

Aside from the realistic impracticalities, it seems like a gameplay exploit to be able to use and own everything someone else had in their house simply because you killed them. Want to go on a sneaky stealth mission to collect their antique vase worth 2000 gold to sell it to a fence who accepts stolen goods? Why not just knock them off for good and sell it to their next door neighbour who owns a shop?

The way it should work is that you can use the house for a few days before people start asking questions... if you are caught in the house afterwords you are arrested.

If a person catches you in there bed, they should get the guards and drag you out of the house.
