Giant Bombcast

Post » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:33 pm

I stopped listening to the Bombcast a few years ago, after listening to the Eurogamer podcast. Once you've listened to some learned and erudite Brits calmly discussing the latest games, the loud, show-off yanks of the Bombcast are just insufferable. And Brad Shoemaker's Skyrim write-up was embarrassingly awful. He writes like a mentally-challenged teenager.

like.

You're being too generous. If the shoe fits, you must wear it.

I hope I can get my foot in this door though, I'd love to redeem American gaming Journalism. Being well-spoken in this country, as rare a commodity as it is, doesn't amount to much apparently.

Oh my God, terrible, terrible podcast. I got the feeling that they hardly knew what the hell they were talking about, and that the guy who actually went to Utah, either fell asleep at some point during the demo or was drunk for the entire presentation of the game. Not only that, but through it all I felt like I was listening to five insecure kids, unsure of whether they should be excited about, or critical of Skyrim and because of their insecurities and ignorance, they feigned indifference and draqed everything they said in sarcastic tones.

Totally agree. I used to frequent Giant Bomb, but I have stopped visiting on general principle as their head honcho, Jeff Gerstmann, seems to take a disliking to any game that isn't a ten-a-penny FPS. He didn't like Oblivion and he slated Demon's Souls, two of the best games of this generation.

Not to mention why he's at Giant Bomb to begin with......"The Great Zelda Debacle" as I like to call it.

Came into it expecting worthless jib-jab, and was proved right, their article, http://www.giantbomb.com/news/skyrim-is-looking-like-the-elder-scrolls-evolved/3048/ entitled; "Skyrim Is Looking Like The Elder Scrolls, Evolved" a throwback from "Halo: Combat Evolved" is rife with general comments lacking reflection or actual facts. professional reviewers who lack knowledge of what they review should be... removed.

these guys barely know anything about TES at all and the only thing interesting I heard him say was he wants skyrim to be out now as it looked really good visually and gameplay wise

Which GiantBomb guy(s) is(are) doing the interview? If it's who I suspect, then there's a definite reason why it svcks.

EDIT: Actually, scratch that. If the endurance runs have taught me anything, Vinny is the only RPGish guy on the team. Brad, he's only FPS minded. Everyone else seems to be in-between.

I don't have a problem with it. There are actually some creatures in the world that, if they can't see you, you're not there. I don't know if that applies to reptiles though. Animal expert anyone?
