manually download boss masterlist

I want to manually download the list, my gaming computer doesn't have Internet. The repos just have dummy files though. Any ideas?

Go to this link http://code.google.com/p/better-oblivion-sorting-software/source/browse/data/boss-oblivion/masterlist.txt (each update is at the same link)

on the right where it says File Info, theres another link View Raw File

Click it, wait until the page refreshes, then right click the page and choose save as

save it as masterlist.txt

copy to the usual place boss saves the masterlist. (Currently in Oblivion\Data\BOSS\ folder - Heads up ; I think thats going to change when BOSS 1.7 gets released, but thats a while away yet)

Note: Windows by default does not let you see filename extensions, to change this go to start, control panel, switch to classic view and choose folder options, view tab, and in the list un-check Hide extensions for known file types. Click okay.

If you had extensions hidden, and you saved masterlist.txt, you would actually be saving masterlist.txt.txt

Annoying. Also deceptive - You can download what you think is a picture for example...

fluffybunny.jpg <<-- a hundred spaces here -->> .exe

Double click it and you get more than you bargained for :)

That was very thorough, thanks for replying. My browser froze, but after waiting substantially I managed to grab it. At least I have the link, I can probably make a program to download it offline anyway.

I for one would be very impressed if you could download a file without an internet connection. I've already said that the next release will let you update your masterlist without requiring Oblivion to be installed, and it should be released soon, so there's probably not much point in trying to break reality. :P

I've also got a HTML version of the master list; it's much easier to read, since it has better formatting, but it only gets updated every 2-3 weeks or so. Check the link in my sig.

Another method is to install Boss on your online comp and simply create a file named Oblivion.esm (doesn't have to BE anything; I just created an empty text file and renamed it; be aware of hidden extensions as has been pointed out) in the Data folder with Boss.
Damnit, now I forget exactly how it works. You may have to create the Data folder first and point Boss to install to it (using the "other install" option maybe?) and then add the .esm in after it's installed.
Anyway, Boss will happily download the masterlist with the fake Oblivion.esm in there.

Indeed. BOSS looks for Oblivion.esm (or Nehrim.esm, Fallout3.esm or FalloutNV.esm) when deciding which masterlist to download. So just having any file with that name will work. In 1.6x, you just need BOSS.exe in the same folder as your fake Oblivion.esm, and the updater should work fine IIRC.

With 1.7 you won't need any fake files, you can just override the game autodetection with a specific choice.

I didn't really explain myself clearly enough. I am using two separate computers, one of which doesn't have an Internet connection, but it has my Oblivion install on it, so I have to bandy around a lot when it comes to modding. Problem solved, though, alt3rn1ty's link worked just fine.
