Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:00 am

Hey just reinstalled Oblivion yesterday have just fixed up the shack. It's the only mod I'm using currently and am getting constant CTD's. Problem is worst whilst trying to save.
Mod is abandoned mountain shack.

If it is an Abondoned Shack outside of Chorrol, It probably requires Oblivion to have version 1.20416, and a current version of OBSE to work. Please name the mod, and the author, and the website where the mod can be found, or just provide a link.
An example of this-"I am using the Woodcutters Cabin by Korana that I have downloaded from TESNexus, and...".

I've used that mod quite extensively. The only reason I can think of it causing your game to crash is that your game was going to crash anyway, with or without the mod. The unmodded game is a crashy beast, after all.

Make sure your game is patched to the latest version (1.2.0.416), and consider picking up Windom Earle's Oblivion Crash Prevention System (weOCPS for short), which can be found at Nexus. It requires OBSE. Will make your game much more stable.

I will update to the latest patch (I probably should've earlier anyways) and I might try that crash prevention mod but my game was very stable before I installed the mod. It was only until I was about halfway through cleaning up the house when I started having these crashes.

Yeah, definitely do get the latest patch. It's just silly to try to troubleshoot anything until you have that done.

You may also want to have a look at http://sites.google.com/site/khettienna/mod-user-guides/setting-up-oblivion-for-mod-use.

Sorry to respond so late. I updated to the latest patch and although nowhere in the mods description, readme or in the comments did it say it needed the latest patch but thankfully it seems to have fully fixed my issues. I haven't had one crash in about 5 hours of game play :D

Thanks again and sorry about the somewhat obvious fix.

No apology was warranted. Modding Oblivion is far from intuitive, so it's a learning process for everyone. :)

Ragnalin, I'm glad you were able to solve your problem. For the record, the mod was developed and extensively tested with the 1.1 patch. So, I'm not sure why the 1.2 patch solved you problem, but glad it did. Enjoy.
