What you all don't realize, is that actually all player controlled characters, on all versions of the game share the same set of undergarments. That is why they are always brown. No time for washing, killin baddies.

The underwear from oblivion PC's actually became self-aware. He named himself Bob, and has a family and now lives in a nice 2 story house outside of Boston.

The Khajiit and Argonians would have to have garments that account for their tails.

The tail extends from the spine so I'd imagine they'd have some kind of tie or button to fasten around the top of the tail. For the Khajiit at least I can't imagine pushing a tail backwards against the flow of the fur through a hole would be very comfortable, though I guess since it's underwear anyway the hole could be sufficiently large since clothes are worn over underwear anyway. For the Argonians their tails are so thick they'd need some kind of fastener to keep the back sealed up well.

This extends to their normal garments too. Some kind of belt-buckle like flap or button could account for tails in normal garments. I highly, highly doubt Bethesda is going that far to make the clothes realistic though. There will likely be the standard "the tail just goes right through the cloths" design, implying some kind of tight fit design for the clothes without getting into the details.

Not all 14-year olds, mind you - not all of us get off to staring at naked virtual buns. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of lecherous people out there who will dive to get their hands on nvde mods. :3

Anyway, I often loot everything a bandit owns and it can get annoying that they all wear the same underwear!

Of course it matters! Come to think of it, I'd love it if character creation gave a couple underwear choices. I don't want my character to be naked, but I would prefer her to be stylish--and standard issue burlap doesn't cut it.

I was a big fan of the Khajiit suit in Morrowind.
But if Daggerfall could show it, why not Skyrim.
