I just thought this was a good idea to help people. :)

If your not sure how people will react to your game or story, just post the general idea here. Then wait and see what others think about it. Its easy!!!

Ok, cool, I'll start then I guess...

5E433: Tamriel in the gunpowder age.
Imagine that the Cyrodiilic empire collapsed into warring city states. They all fight for a chance to become the dominant force in the region. Think of a TES version of the Italian wars during the renaissance.

Also, for nords don't forget to add something to the end like Swift-Blade or something like that

Sounds like own. If we're thinking Italian Wars here, then we're talking about pike and shot, or would the pike have fallen out already?

In any case, if you ever start it... DIBS ON BRUMA.

If pat ever gets his RP idea up... I think that will take a lot of the "TES + Tech" interest...

Dang, I would've loved Bruma. Heh.

Duval, you have to expand on this idea, it sounds pretty brilliant at first glance.

i wrote a 6 or 7 part fanfic baised in the timeline i described, http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=807145&hl= There would be a mixture of pike, shot and super-heavily armored knights. The use of magic would have started to wain away due to increased reliance on technology. It wouldn't be gone by any means, but it'd be more geared towards healing and enchanting.

Oh yeah, I remember that. Wow, seems like so long ago. The magic leaning towards healing and enchanting makes perfect sense.

I'd expect a move away from destrucion with magic... but summoning would start to become invaluable... Are the daedra so far behind in the times they wouldn't notice that the humans were chewing up their asses with moar dakka? Bring out the Dremora with Gatling Guns

The enchanting stuff could make for some special units. Most obvious one would be conjuration sharpshooters or something like that - arquebusiers with enchanted bullets and guns that summon Daedra upon stopping after being fired (some gross demoralizing images there of Dremora conjuring up inside people...). There was something about summons in your fic, Duval, but I don't recall if me 'getting' this idea is just recalling what you wrote or is it really mine; has been a while since I've read it.

Also, destruction could be useful; maybe some sort of an elite unit with enchanted bullets (would need expensive bullets, like silver or even ebony, as if we stick to the games then ebony has more 'enchanting space' than lead/iron) that'd sort of blow up - emit a large fireball after stopping inside the hapless soldier. It'd be highly demoralising to see the guy next to you not only die but blow up into tiny burning bits, methinks. Also maybe a stealth unit with silenced arquebuses and silencing bullets.

Or, even more fun. Necromantic bullets.

the reason why i wanted to limit magic was to prevent stuff like silenced muskets and any other modern concepts. It would be a hard rp to control, since most everyone would want to be a sniper with super accurate weapons. I chose a setting akin to the late renaissance so the technology for firearms would be in it's infancy, mostly cannons, organ guns and 6 foot long heavy muskets.

I'm still trying to work on a rule set that'll force people to work as a team with innacurate weapons rather than running around trying to get headshots in ghillie suits with silenced scoped weapons.

Put emphasis on enchanting space and cost, perhaps? The enchanted bullets would be one-time weapons, and I don't think an ordinary bullet could be enchanted for anything worthwhile, thus needing better materials, thus leading to high costs that no one wants. So silenced muskets, conjure bullets and all the bling would be restricted to a handful of men, the best of the best. Also consider that following the (last two, not sure how it was in the other two) games every enchantment needs an individual soul. That's thousands upon thousands of souls for arquebuses only if you want to equip all your arquebusiers like that, I'm not even speaking about bullets.
