Is there supposed to be a new trailer today?

Then you weren't looking hard enough. They talked about how the AI works in a couple and how it was a big improvement over Oblivion such as they now hunt for you in the dark when you kill their friends and what not. Then we heard about how your character actually picks flowers, meaning that it will actually pick ingredients for alchemy instead of just hearing the sound and it's in your inventory. We heard about how there is life in the waters this time as the fish were spawning upstream, jumping out of the water. We found out that draugrs use Thu'um in the game. We found out there is a chain lightning spell, a mind destruction spell, a ray of frost spell and there were more but I can't remember. There is even more but I think you get the picture.

Edit: Oh and one of the articles talked about the new stealth system as well, it sounds interesting.

I wouldn't say we got no new info. I just wouldn't call it revelatory nor in-depth. That's all.

Did you mean dragons? I don't remember hearing anything about draugrs using Thu'um

How is that not revelatory and how much do you need for it to be in-depth? The lines of code? :pinch:

We already knew dragons use shouts, it's their language :bonk: But it was said that Draugrs use Thu'um and are apparently very dangerous.

I'm expecting to see a lot of new videos after E3, just look at how Bethesda showed off Fallout 3 when it came out. Lots of videos, explaining things like Karma and Weapons for Fallout 3. Something similar will likely be shown for Skyrim, e.g. showcasing the cities or whatever. Maybe an actual demo that shows what only gamer magazines were allowed to see not long ago. You know, the demo of the town and the quest to get back that dragonclaw.

Not worth making a fuss about it. I just think most of what we've read is complementary to what was already known. Not revelatory in the sense no new ground has been uncovered, just additional details provided. As for what i'd deem in-depth, it is the kind of coverage that leaves most questions answered. You will find question marks hoovering over a few gameplay departments.

But this is not a tragedy, by no means.

No idea, but since the release date of FO3 was October 28, they might follow a similar pattern?

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm gonna go do some searching and see what I can find.

I guess we just have different views of what is "groundbreaking" then. We will just agree to disagree.

Does this mean that for all the hype surrounding this week we only got six new screenshots and (written reports on) a demo we already heard about in January from GI?

It also means I get to say, "I told you so". Well, not you personally...but the forum in general.

Since Skyrim was announced, in countless posts I've stated how it's only natural that they're going to hype and exaggerate things up until release. Because even though the employees of Bethesda may love what they do and I'm sure most of them are genuinely trying to make a great game, ultimately, they're trying to sell a game. If they didn't sell games they wouldn't get to do what they love for a living.

I know this post will mostly be overlooked or hastily skimmed through, but for those interested in the truth, there it is.

maybe they're still stuck in a prolonged release-announcement mode

like howard said, they've never announced and set a release date for a game on the same day, AND have never announced a game 11 months before release. they're acting like this game has a year or two left for development and "hype-building"
