Why GoNY?

Because there is this one scene where this "police captain" (or what he is) leaves something on the middle of the streets... and all the poeple ignore the valuable item, because they fear him..?

pls excuse my bad english :S

They react based on their disposition to you. Most NPCs will be neutral, and will either ignore the item or keep it for themselves.

Or start fighting each other over it. A lot can happen and I predict a lot of youtube vids about someone causing a brawl including an entire city.

The youtube vids will be great with Skyrim. Between the reworked radiant ai and the mountainous terrain and high peaks.

"Wandering through town, you could enter your inventory and decide to drop a heavy two-handed weapon rather than sell it at a nearby shop. In some instances, the weapon might lie there forgotten in the mud. At another time, a young boy might grab it up and rush after you, asking if you had dropped it and might like it back. In a third instance, two burly men reach the weapon at the same time, and begin to fight over who will take it home." -Game Informer, issue 214, cover story, page 53.

Or the child picks it up and gets over encumbered , and the game crashes... ;)

When I read about this feature I think it's was pretty cool but if your inventory is stacked and you toss some weapons away do you guys see the issue of having someone always randomly run up to you every time you willingly trash your sword as annoying..I see that as a foreseeable issue a minor irritating one at least.

I think this was more of an example of something that COULD happen, but not something that will happen all the time, mathematically.

I wonder what happens if you see someone pick up a weapon you dropped and that person doesn't return it to you. Can you kill that person for stealing your stuff and get no charge for your crime?

That'd be neat. I'd drop items everywhere so I can kill a lot of people without being blamed for it.

Whether they return it to you depends on their disposition towards you, if they don't like you, they might just keep it for themselves. But in any case, I'd assume that they only pick up things you drop if it happens to be in their path, I highly doubt they'll psychically know exactly where you dropped an iron dagger in some remote dungeon, risk their life to go out and retrieve it, and then stalk you all across Skyrim to find you and return it to you. So if you actually want to get rid of an item, just drop it somewhere no one is likely to find it.

I'm gonna keep dropping stuff until two people kill each other, only to have a guard kill the surviver.
