Dragons slowing time

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:43 am

Todd seemed to make a direct correlation between the dragon shouts the player will have access to and the shouts the dragons will have access to.

Well, with our confirmed dragon shouts being slow time, force push, call a dragon, and fire breathing (as of the Spike interview a little while ago), does this mean that dragons will be able to slow time? How is the game going to handle a dragon slowing down time? Is that fair?

Now, if we see it come into game play as dragons that seem to move hyper-fast (we're just slow-mo to them), I think that would be rather scary.

EDIT: +call a dragon, thanks deathcoffee!

Also there will be a shout to summon a dragon, maybe dragons can call a friend to help them.

That's an interesting point. I wonder how often we're going to see the dragons using their shouts. Having a dragon throwing around force pushes could be.... deadly. More so than fire breathing.

I think it would be really cool to give a time slowing shout, only to have the dragon utter the same words and have our battle play out at DBZ speeds to the outside world.

No,its not fair. Dragons want to destroy the world and you wanna stop them. They are not gonna play "fair". They are gonna use their powers to try and KILL you. You being alive is not something they like.

Think about the Teleport shout, I can't wait to fight a dragon that's teleporting around! hehe.

Sounds awesome to me. Challenging fight is challenging.

So? You just use the exact same power on the dragon. Of course, if your power is inferior, then you'd have to go with plan B: use your human knowledge formulator to come up with a devious plan.

It's a game bro. He's talking about whether it will be fair game play wise.

Considering that shout is intended for stealth, I wouldn't expect dragons to use it much, a giant, flying, fire breathing lizard is probably not the most stealthy creature in existence.

As far as dragons using the slow time shout, I don't know if it will happen or not, it sounds like dragons use the same shouts as the player, but does that mean they can use all shouts the player can learn? We'll see. As to how it would work if dragons use it, I'd assume it's like others have said, with the dragons moving super fast, as it would seem to an observer if you were able to slow time while moving at normal speed, unless it's actually like your typical bullet time in that it slows time for everyone, including you, and just serves the purpose of giving you more time to react to things, in which case, one wouldn't be able to have dragons in a way that really makes it obvious to the player that it's having an effect, but I kind of like the idea of moving at normal speed yourself while everyone else is slowed myself, and if it's like that, it would certainly be challenging if dragons used it, but it wouldn't make them invicible, after all, it's not like the shout would last forever, and I'd assume dragons also have a cooldown timer for their shouts so they couldn't keep spamming it, not to mention if you know the shout as well, I'd assume that you could also use it to move at the same rate as them while the surrounding world is slowed.

I hope dragons can use all the dragon shouts. It would really help make them feel unique, and powerful.

Hopefully it won't look all Benny Hill comical when a Dragon suddenly speeds up (relative to you) and dashes around biting you in half.

I`m thinking the player`s movements will slow down while the dragon retains it`s speed.

I've never really liked slow-motion or slowing-time or w/e kinda stuff. Feels so unfitting imo.
That's the only dragon shout power I dislike.

I don't think the time-slowing will last more than 2-3 seconds. So it will likely be the player that slows while the dragon moves normal speed.
