Thoughts and Musings

Please forgive me if anything HAS been confirmed. I have read threads and interviews and the like but I am human and it is always possible to miss something.

It makes me wonder if they are going to make things more action based this time around. I hate to reference call of duty but one thing that they have always done well is moving the camera at specific moments and moving the hands and body around to simulate that you are actually watching movement occur at tense moments through the individuals eyes. I have noticed they have added new stealth kill animations and such and I can see them going this direction. I also noticed that they stated they don't want game breakings class creation decisions to occur in the beginning which leads me to believe that to fill that gap they might make it more action packed, maybe even add cinematics for once. The dragon fight is an example. it could have just been for the hungry PRs out there but possibly not. If this is a direction TES would go would you guys welcome more action and cinematics? Do you feel like it would be trying too much to follow other games and would not welcome it? I myself am not sure. I don't want the RPG aspect dumbed down by any means but I wouldn't mind added animations for certain actions like pick pocketing and kills.

Notice how they talked about the ability to shoot down lanterns to create fire. It would be nice if you could carry lanterns and throw them as either distractions (fantasy flash bang FTW, lol jk) or throw them for combat purposes. I know someone created a thread stating that they wanted to be able to carry them, I agree. Do you guys?

I would like the ability to own houses this time around just like in Oblivion but would it be exciting to be able to actually choose where items go in your home this time? They forced you to save up a lot of money in Oblivion to buy stuff for your home but most of it was aesthetic and it was placed for you. Wouldn't you love to go to the shop and buy a storage unit or desk and actually place it in your home somehow? What about servants? Wouldn't you like to have someone look over the home while you are gone? What about cooking? They always include a lot of food and alchemy but wouldn't it be neat to actually cook food at home for warrior type classes? I know I know they already have alchemy.. But if they somehow made it different enough than alchemy could you guys see that being plausible?

This idea is somewhat tailored to the lantern's fire. What about vegetation destruction? Trees burning and bushes and the like? Too much? Not sure.. Minor Terrain Deformation with spells and shouts? Any of this sound interesting? Post your thoughts.

More hair styles and different aesthetic choices. Clothing under armor as stated by another poster would be nice but I would like to add tattered capes and such for aesthetics, personality and bad-assery. Blood on swords but not too much and possible minor dismemberment? I am not sure about dismemberment myself as it feels more dragon age or fallout to me. I know a poster already started a thread about the dismemberment so go check it out first. Just adding a personal list of what I believe could be interesting topics and hope to expand on topics already started by others.

I know we all want and expect improved stealth and AI regarding crimes and the like. NO ESP GUARDS. So we don't need to rehash that.

Dragon armor anyone? Dragons mythologically speaking have always been known for spell resistances, defense due to scales, high intelligence, etc. Well, considering you can fight them wouldn't it be nice to be able to harvest dragon bones and scales to forge armor, weapons and trinkets? If I killed a dragon in Elder Scrolls I most certainly wouldn't let a dragon corpse go to waste. Though I do believe that I saw in the video that the dragon's body (except for bones) gets disintegrated when you consume it's soul. Hmmmmmmm.

AGAIN, I would like to apologize if anything has been confirmed that I am not aware of. If so just give me a reference to where you found it confirmed and I would be very happy.

Yes, Things will get more action orientated but that is nothing to worry about. What do you actually think when you hear the word Action based? Is it large battles? Fighting every second of the game? Gruesome combats? Or just the same as in Oblivion but more exiting combat? I am going for the latter one. Things will be more the same as in Fallout 3 and Oblivion. But just more exciting combat.

Torches, Lanterns It does not really bother me much. in the end they have the same functionality. It's just a different fancy look.

I completely agree with you concerning furnishing your house. I would like to place the furniture where ever i like by my own and not something pre-set and not being able to move it then.

About vegetation destruction. TES does not need such feature. In Far cry 2 it may be fun to lit up small parts of the area and i think that it would be fun in TES too. But is it really necessary? In my opinion not because in my eyes it would be a worthless feature.

I really do hope that we can use certain things from a dragon and use it for a good cause. Like making armor, Swords, Items, or ingredients for a potion.

English is not my first language and i don't really understand this. Do you mean that you would like to become some sort of chef cook and cook for other npc's?

Yeah what you have brought up makes a lot of sense. In regards to action I meant camera movements, more animations and just more excitement when you pull off cool moves in combat. Let me give an example: in the game Crysis 2 when you leap over objects the camera view shifts down to look at the ledge you are jumping over before you actually finish the jump. Little camera tricks to help boost the "Bad-assery" of the action itself. In regards to my last part that confused you what I meant is cooking food for yourself and/or followers that follow you during quests. Food that you can eat that gives you bonuses for a period of time, minor bonuses and maybe some regeneration of health and stamina but have that geared more towards the warrior type of player rather than the mage in order to keep alchemy still useful and to keep them separate enough. At the same time it might be redundant. Having the ability to buy a servant or pay for a servant to maintain your home or look over it while you are gone, haven't thought much about WHAT he would do exactly. I hope I cleared some of that up, if not I am sorry.

It would be neat if you could form a band of mercenaries who all go out and adventure on their own (without pillaging dungeons before you get a chance to yourself) and bring back whatever they find and put it in a chest for you to look over later. The ability to then take those items and either keep them for yourself or equip them to the mercenaries to better their chances for survival. This might be a good use for cooking food, place food in a chest and the mercenaries will take the food for their travels.

As you stated before. If they could manage it to maintain the main purpose for alchemy and cooking it would be a neat idea. But i have two feelings about this idea. As you said. Cooking to buff health and improve stamina. And alchemy to restore magica and make poison and so on is a great way to create a different experience for the type of character you are playing. However. as you said it might become too redundant.

That would be a great feature in Skyrim. They already did something similar with Oblivion. Like when you became the leader of the Fighterguilds that you could issue order to concentrate on items or contracts. In the DLC the Vile lair you could issue a command to your 'slave' and he would bring back some loot after he was done with his task.
