The Wildlife

In Skyrim i want to see a great deal of realistic environment. Just by the pictures they have created a masterpiece of landscape and effects, but whats the purpose of having a forest if there are no dangers or hunts. The animals need to be like a realistic animal, for example a wolf that howls would have almost correct features as a real one but also have the instinct to go after other animals besides you. In oblivion i did not see any wolf go after a buck or doe, all it went after was you or another two legged animal. If a lone wolf sees you it would run, if its in a pack it would try to kill you, if a deer sees you it would run for sure. The bears are fine i guess but i might like to see it in the wild standing on its hind legs and look for predators or scout for food. They might want to make a purpose for pelts though, i found myself gathering tons of pelts hoping to use them for something maybe use them to make clothes or light weight armor ( fur armor). This may be to much to ask but a possibility that animals will drink from a lake or watering hole, that way i can get a good shot at a big game buck. Sorry if this sounds more of a complaint than a suggestion.

Wolves hunting in packs are confirmed. Wildlife has also been dramatically improved. I don't think you need to worry too much.

Todd has said in an interview that wolves hunt in packs and can take down for example a mammoth.

I would like to see smaller animals such as rabbits or squirrels running about, not attacking you. Just for the atmosphere.

You should take a look at the new information thats out in about 20 different articles. They go on about how wolves now travel in packs, they may decide not to attack you sometimes (all animals are no longer out for your hide, they may attack or ignore you depending on their mood). If you take alook at the trailer and screens, the wolves look fairly realistic. atleast compared to oblivion. Also, They said that wolves will hunt in packs on other animals like mammoths, and will feed on them. And just think, this is only one animal they have referenced, of the many that spotted Tamriel, and probebly more that will spot Skyrim. Birds are in, swimming fish are in, ect ect. I dont think you have anything to worry about in this area of the game.

So maybe like red dead redemption with small animals running around

I hope improved means that when a pack of wolves attack a deer or a giant mammoth and actually win they eat the dead corpse and just don't wonder off after killing it.

And then the pack will hang around the corpse to simulate them eating. so gone are the days of a wolf killing prey then continuing on their scripted path instantly.

Well, bats have been confirmed in caves. If Bethesda is adding stuff like that already, I don't see why they won't add other little animals elsewhere. I guess we just have to wait and see what Bethesda manages to pull off. It sounds to me like Bethesda already has wildlife covered.

Sabre tooth tigers are in too! :ahhh: I'm hoping for a lot of ice age themed animals.

I agree that wildlife should not automatically attack you unless there is cause to. Animal instinct is all about survival.
