Vilja is good, but The Lost Spires always seemed counterintuitive to roleplaying to me. It's one of those things where you are basically treated as a faceless nobody who is being lead blindly forward by the NPC characters who control your every movement. This comes up at the very start of the Quest when you express interest in joining an Archaeology guild and you are immediately forced into saying that you have no scientific/magical type knowledge, followed by being appointed the rank of "brain dead muscle" pretty much. Follow that up with dungeon crawls, map markers, everything being spelled out for you, being unable to alter events in anyway, overpowered pretty looking rewards, and viola. You have a linear series of dungeon crawls, that tries to present itself as a quest.

Just added the Timescale mod to my game, going to check it out and get some playtime in. Not sure that I want to add a quest mod to my game as there is already so much for my character to do, maybe later on when he is more experienced and has accomplished some of his current goals.

For me that was one of my main problems with Oblivion. There was a lot to do, but 85% of it was: boring, generic, meaningless, crap. So like I said earlier I'd add quest mods and unique gameplay mods in order to give me some actually interesting stuff to do.

Race: Breton
Birthsign: the Apprentice
class: (Custom) Dark Magi

Alchemy
conjuration
Alteration
Destruction
Illusion
Restoration
Mysticism
Looking at your skills I really hope you're using a alternate leveling mod. With so many magic skills you'll be levelling up very fast and very inefficiently if you're using the vanilla levelling system.

You using the spelltomes and paperchase optional plugins for LAME? Those two plugins would really fit your desire to collect scrolls and books.

Regarding Vilja. She's a cool companion to have regardless of her quests. you can completely ignore her quests, she just a good immersive companion to have around... Oh, and shes an alchemist so... yeah :)

I think I did add the spelltomes plugin but not the paperchase one, I may add it later on though. I did choose the slower leveling option from OOO is that is what you are talking about. I do realize that there are a lot of crap quests in vanilla Oblivion however questing is not my main goal with this character either so what is contained in the game already should keep my pretty busy, plus I always have the option of adding things later on in the game. Really though I have been playing this character for almost 5 hours now and I have only increased one skill point in Conjuration and that was just his practicing of the skill, I am much more focused on living this characters life than questing and killing so things should go much slower than if I was to play the game as a gung-ho battle crazy wizard out to kill whatever he comes across.
my second day in town was spent taking a walk outside the city walls and cataloging the plants that I found, noting location found (i.e. if they grow near rocks trees water on a hillside), color shape. Later on when I return home I will note what effects each harvested plant produces. This process is thanks to the Journal mod that I am using, which is going to make this game a lot more immersive because I will be able to actively keep track of a lot of different things in-game instead of having to write them down on a piece of paper.
