Item Creation

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:48 am

One thing that is kinda out of the box and did deff not change how i love oblivion is..... This would be amazing in any game at all..... but go more in depth with weapon/item creation. Like, for instance u want to make a steel sword.... u can go out, find a large hunk of steel, take it to a blacksmith and then a window would pop up... allowing u to draw and sculpt ur own weapon, drawing the shape of the blade, making carvings ect.... then once said and done..... you choose how much u want to spend to make the blade sharp... more money-sharper blade-more damage..... then after u receive your created weapon u can enchant as u wish... one more thing.... when ur working with iron it takes more money to make it damage... like... 20 then glass would....

Such depth would be nice but I don't think the technology is there in such a large game as this.

Drawing up our own swords isn't as simple as you make it out to be for developers.

Also, if definitely is spelled with one F, why did you abbreviate it with two F's? Def, Definitely: Jeff, Jeffery.

I don't think you realize the time it takes to model a weapon.

The way you describe it you would be effectively making your own mesh, but the game would have to include a system which ensures the mesh isn't completely wonky and useless as a sword would go, and would also have to dynamically alter the texture to make it fit without looking hideous.

If you want to do this, get the game for PC, get the Creation Kit, get Blender and Photoshop and go wild.

Haha yea... thanks for the input... now that i think about it, it would be really hard.... maybe just taking out the Sculpting part.... keep the carving and sharpening idea.

Maybe selecting a blade type.... out of pre-made blades.

we will be able to make are own weapons, but unless you are on the computer you will not be able to create original weapons, it would be very hard to implement into a game, and even if it worked it would look like crap because the textures wont be specifically designed for it and the UV mapping may be off

also if you design your own weapon there would be no way of telling its speed or damage, or even what type it is
