Does Daggerfall End?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 11:10 am

What I mean is, when you get your ending, is it over? Go back to the Main Screen ? Or is it the kind of game, like Morrowind and Oblivion where you keep on, keepin' on... ?

If it ends, cool, if it doesnt end, and can roam around and do whatever there-on-after, cool too

It doesn't end, and you can continue playing

it ends when you finish the main quest, and your character can die permanently

It ends when you die--IRL.
Well, theoretically.

It doesn't end when you beat the Main Quest?
That would be strange.

Why do you answer his question not knowing wether the game ends or not? And why should that be strange? Unlike in Arena, in Daggerfall you aren't strictly bound to finish the MQ and it's just optional.

You get the best of the two...the sense of 'completion' upon the game's ending, but also get to enjoy the exploration after the game ends with your powerful character.
Spoiler
I prefer it like this, ever since beating Might & Magic 6 the first time years ago...saving the world, completing the game once and for all, and being returned to the scenic first view of the first town you ever visit. It was a really nice gaming moment :)

The only strange thing is that nothing changes after the end of the Main Quest: your actions don't have consequences at all. If only Bethesda had spent a little more time developing this aspect of the game (and the other 298.342 things they left out, of course).
