New at Modding Please Help

Hello Everyone, Malakye here with another mod help request but this time for Oblivion! I am sure that there are a ton of these but I seem to be having some real issues with installing mods for Bethesda games and Oblivion is not making things any easier on me. So my Request is what essential mods should I download for Oblivion? Also anything I should know like if I need a certain version of the mod due to problems for example...I downloaded OBSE and after I followed the instructions in the ReadMe I ran OBSE and Oblivion crashed almost immediately to desktop with an error message. I tried to delete the files only to have the error occur over again. >_<

So what are so applications and mods that are a must have for Oblivion? I have heard of things like BOSS and whatnot but I do not understand their purpose...Thanks everyone ^_^

I hope I am allowed to repost so soon but just an update, I tried installing OOO and a few other minor mods and I have a ton of (!) WTF things around and I copied everything over correctly to my knowledge. Anyone else have this problem?

Means missing meshes.

Which means, in turn, an incorrect installation process. Basically, read your readmes, check the latest release thread for things like OOO (reading the OP thoroughly where applicable), and see where you have gone wrong.

Also, run BOSS, and read the bosslog.html text that will come up post-running.

edit: It really is the only way to stop this kind of thing happening - read the things you need to read, take your time, install mods one (or maybe two or three, at most) at a time, check to see if everything's working, go to the next one/two/three or so, use BOSS, and so forth...

Thanks for the help ^_^ I have been reading up and getting into the habit of installing mods through OBMM which may take a bit longer but is much more efficient and compatible. I do have another question though about the overhaul mods. Right now I am running oblivion with only OOO as far as overhauls go and was wondering if it is possible to run the other overhauls with it like MMM or Fans?

Yes indeed. But make sure that you have installed OOO correctly first, including the 1.34 beta patch. Then, a good next step is to install MMM (but I would wait a bit with Frans, as that requires FCOM, and is not for newcomers). The simplest way to install MMM correctly is to use the MMM omod installer I have made. Follow the link in my signature, or in the first post of the MMM thread to find the MMM omod installer.

Oh thank you so so much ^_^ and I will indeed stay away from Frans for now lol I have installed and reinstalled Oblivion so many darn times trying to learn mods and how they work and it would just destroy me if I had to reinstall all over again lol I want to get into Oblivion already! Hahah thank you so so much

Also I must have done something stupid but when I go into first person view the camera view seems to be misplaced. I am firing in completely different direction my characters view is that of a giant (I tower over everything) and so on >_< anyway to check to see whats causing this?
