Did you like the infernal city novel?

Just a poll to see how many people liked/not liked the novel.

Should be a 'didn't read it' option. I mean, people who didn't read it should just refrain from voting, but I have a feeling that a lot of people who didn't read it might vote based on assumptions.

Anyway, I quite liked it.

Yes, I thought it was very well-executed. By no means was it a 36 Lessons of Vivec, but it was deserving of the Elder Scrolls title it bore.

Agreed. It also makes me very jumpy for the next book and TES:V, if TES:V will be at least as good as the book was.

I liked it as well though I wish it was double the number of pages.

The book is ok, but the beginning is more or less a sitcom. Once the danger actually sets in, does the book become interesting.

When the next book is release, I will be able to give a better review (seeing as the Infernal City) left things somewhat unfinished.

I absolutely loved it. It was everything I wanted and more. I laughed. ( I did not cry) I cheered. I knew what was going on. I was compelled to keep reading. I was like "... woah!"

I really enjoyed it. It really got me hooked on the Elder Scrolls setting (again). Can't wait for the second book!

I liked it, though I also wish it had been longer. Greg Keyes shows again that he is imaginative, while at the same time he's respectful of the Elder Scrolls mythos. Some interesting changes to the Empire, and I think the second novel will fill in more of the blanks about what happened to the various provinces.

I don't know if anyone else felt the same way, but the first half felt a lot like gulliver's travels to me. After the first half, I thought the book was awesome.

Voted Loved it.

Now for the conditions.

1. I consider it "young advlt" material. I guess that means I'm comparing it to Twilight or something. I have no idea, being an old fart. The novel series that I'd most directly compare it to, in terms of audience, are "Vampire Hunter D" and "Trinity Blood".

2. I do have different standards than I would if I were comparing to Glen Cook, which would be different than positioning it against advlt epic fantasy.

3. The forum reaction to Morrowind getting the clean slate treatment increased my enjoyment, because I am a twisted person.

Loved it. I have a few reasons why.

Very rarely does a book make a person more aware of an underused sense. This book, with the inclusion of beings with more than five senses, several of which go into "eating," makes eating more enjoyable for me because I am more aware of my own basic five.

It does the lore justice in spades, while at the same time changing things enough to be fresh and new instead of stagnant.

Instead of being the dreaded 3rd person omnicient, it's the third person limited. Basically first person minus the "I." Colin doesn't see the monster, or the slaughter, so we don't. he hears it, so we do. Colin's magics are very well-described.

Basically, it's like Morrowind. a few flaws in the delivery ('"I wonder if blah blah" he wondered' comes to mind) but altogether the flaws are far dwarfed by the good things. When I'm on a better computer I may do a full review, just for fun.

What's Vuhon's motive for wanting to break away from Oblivion?

He's scared [censored]less of Clavacus Vile, for one. Second, it's more that he wants to break away from Vile's part of Oblivion so that he and Umbra may rule in tandem (or so he wants Umbra to think) as full Princes.

There were children, werewolves, and mounted combat.

The end. :twirl:
