TES Merchandise

Why is there no TES merchandise? Not even a t-shirt? I could only imagine how awesome some of the shirt designs could be. Why no merch? WTF

Yep. T-shirts, hats, pens, hoodies, backpacks, the works. All purchasable at oblivionstore.com. Which has been down for some time now. Probably ran out of the selling drive to keep it supplied. Though I don't know why they don't just have a general TES store that's not dependent upon the life of a game for its success.

That's not merchandise, that's over-priced fire fuel.

Morrowind had a Cafe Press store with lots of stuff, some of its still there (all the stuff with characters from the race and expansion wallpapers). I have an argonian stein myself, and somewhere I have a hat with the Morrowind logo. :) There's a lot of unofficial TES stuff there as well if you want to poke around.

ThatOneGuy has already given you a run down of the Oblivion store. All of those items were purchased in advance rather than produced on demand like Cafe Press, so when something was sold out it was gone.

Fallout 3 didn't have any merchandise available to the public so it's possible Bethesda isn't planning to do this any more. Fallout 3 did have a ton of press swag, and at the time it wasn't too difficult to get on EBay. Morrowind and Oblivion had some press swag as well (like leather bound journals) but far fewer were made and even at the time it was rare to see people selling them on line.

Indeed, Bethesda could both keep its fans occupied and rake in some extra money by producing merchandise. Valve's http://store.valvesoftware.com/ is one of the best examples - I heavily disliked when they adopted their Steam distribution service as it brought about the end of in-depth physical manuals and other game goodies. But the money saved allowed them to produce infinitely cooler things. :)

I doubt we'd see merchandise that wasn't tied in to a game release, if anything it doesn't make sense for Bethesda to keep lots of merchandise in storage in between releases when demand is going to be fairly low.

Pft, Action Figures never go out of style. World of Warcraft keeps up a steady run of them, as does that Gears of War game.

Just make sure it is NECA - more articulation than McFarlane, but still just as detailed a model (in my opinion). The Raziel model is fantastic: http://www.mwctoys.com/REVIEW_062008b.htm, and it does look that fantastic "in person" as it looks in the pictures (I know, 'cause I have one).

I wouldn't mind a shirt saying "Got Skooma?" with some strange pic on it

I couldn't find one so I decided to make me own block-print in art for a shirt. It actually isn't too bad.

There was a thread on what Merchendise people wanted a while back. The favorites where Limewire kitchen sets and Skooma bottle salt and pepper shakers.

I'm having trouble discerning if that was a good or bad thing in your books..

That stein on Cafe Press looks pretty cool, honestly. Still, I would so love a figurine of Sheogorath on his throne in the Isles, cane in hand, or an extremely detailed one of an Ordinator (I've always loved their armor.) A 'group photo' sort of thing with all three of the Tribunal gods might be neat, too. Sotha Sil and Almalexia with Vivec floating in front of them or some such. So much you could do with figurines.

A usable Dwemer mug like you find in the Morrowind ruins would be pretty sweet, too.

What about a model Elven Dagger? That would be pretty cool.

In addition to some awesome NECA figures, I wouldn't mind seeing a reprint of the artbooks and PGE books.
I also wouldn't mind little 'replica' books of the in-game books. :P

Or soul gems that also act as USB hubs, coin sorters, or something.

Sweeeet.

"Hey, what's that sticking out of your tower?"

"Oh, that? It's a Grand Soul gem I'm using to recharge my computer's enchantments."

I hear a .50cal is an acceptable alternative, though. ;)
